Painting Malifaux - An old Project Resurrected...

Some of you may remember my intention to do a Rasputina crew themed more towards the 'cannibal' part of the cults practices...and then after acquiring one of pretty much everything that I needed...I got distracted by something else...

I had various excuses prepared amongst which was "not sure how to do ice but keep the theme 'dark'..." which was working fine until my partner decided to create me one, lol. She's gone light on the blood with this one as I don't think the Golems actually eat their victims...

This is what she came up with using the M2E plastic Ice Golem as a 'proof of concept'. My only problem now is going to be to replicate it...I wonder if she'd be open to some commission work, lol.

Editors Note - I've had several enquiries about the paints used on this model so I've edited in a brief painting guide at the bottom...

As requested here's a very brief guide to the paints used...

First the model was under-coated with Chaos Black spray (Games Workshop) and then a lighter coat of Skull White spray (also Games Workshop) to give a head start to the highlighting process.

She then used German Grey (Vallejo) as a base colour, then a dry brush of Ash Grey (Army Painter), then a blue ink wash (Vallejo), highlight with the Ash Grey again then extreme highlight with white and finally she made a turquoise wash but only applied it to certain areas (you should be able to see where on the pictures).

Painting Malifaux - The Lone Marshal

I was quite looking forward to painting this one myself...alas I waited too long and my better half decided she wanted it for herself...She's undoubtedly done a better job than I would have done though so I suppose I can't complain too much...

Painting Malifaux - Young Nephilim

Yet another painting project whereby my better half gets annoyed with my level of procrastination and takes a model of mine and paints it herself...this time it's the turn of the Young Nephilim...

The unboxing that these were part of was done some time ago and can be found here should you be interested.

Onto the models...they need some grass tufts on the bases to match my other Nephilim but unfortunately I'd ran out...my other half was a bit miffed with me about that, lol.

Another model of mine painted by my better half...I was considering trying to take the credit myself but any-one who had seen my painting is unlikely to be fooled, lol.

Painting Malifaux - The Effigies

My better half has decided that the only way many of my models are ever going to get painted is if she does them herself...she may have a point...

First on the list of items she decided to take off my hands were the old metal effigies that for the most part only ever got used with my 1.5 Collodi crew and so were subsequently going to be painted in a compatible paint scheme. My Collodi crew were painted in somewhat subdued colours to represent the fact that they were once brightly coloured and had faded over time.

Onto the models then...

The Wednesday Gallery

This Wednesday's gallery will return to Steampunk for no reason other than I wish to...

It needs a theme though I suppose so Steampunk Girls in goggles has been arbitrarily selected...

As usual if you have no interest in Steampunk, Girls or for some reason have an intense dislike of goggles then don't scroll down...or just scroll down far enough to read the Blog Archive or Labels 'Cloud' on the right hand side and go look at something else...
