Land Raiders are cool and so are Terminators.

So what makes them even better?

Fleet...

Or rerolls...

HQ
Vulkan Hestan (190) or Shrike (195)

ELITE
Assault Terminators x5 (200), Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield x5 (+0) (200)
Dedicated Land Raider Redeemer (240), Extra Armour (+15), Multi-Melta (+10) (265)

Assault Terminators x5 (200), Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield x5 (+0) (200)
Assault Terminators x5 (200), Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield x5 (+0) (200)

TROOPS
Scout Squad x5 (75)
Scout Squad x5 (75)

FAST ATTACK
Land Speeder Storm (50), Heavy Flamer (+10) (60)
Land Speeder Storm (50), Heavy Flamer (+10) (60)

HEAVY SUPPORT
Land Raider Crusader (250), Multi-Melta (+10) (260)
Land Raider Crusader (250), Multi-Melta (+10) (260)

TOTAL - 1845 or 1850

Terminators go in Land Raiders, Scouts go in Storms.

Vulkan seems like the best choice, however Fleeting Assault Terminators does have a certain appeal so Shrike is still an outside possibility.

  1. why bother with fleet when your in assault tanks?
perhaps just go for a captain or libby with GOI or even a chaplain

and heres another thought, Khan, he's cheaper gives hit and run and furious charge and outflank to dedicated transports (that could be 2 raiders if you too a normal termy squad) we all love furious charge lightning claws :D

personally swap the redeemer for god hammer for some range
maybe trade a couple of the thammers for claws in each squad to to gain some early kills (and allocation)

    just some thoughts

  2. Fleet gives me an extra D6 on my charge range. Plus Shrike is fast enough to keep up with the Land Raider so can still Assault with the squad if they get out of the side door. Also if I make 1 of the Termy Squads 10 man I can still combat squad to get into both the other Land raiders or Infiltrate the Terminators which should be hilarious vs. certain army builds.
Vulkan is the better choice though as he improves both the Terminators (Master Crafted Thunder Hammers) and the Land Raiders (Twin-Linked Multi-Meltas).
I also think Redeemers are overrated I just thought it might add a bit of variety as believe it or not I'm occasionally accused of spamming units ;-)
Khan is an interesting idea though. several extra points for thinking outside the box there, lol.

  3. i know, i'm usually accusing you of copy and paste frenzy!

tbh you have over 50% chance of hitting with the multi-meltas anyway (88% with vulkan). plus you've done vulkan before (ooo errr)

i forgot about infiltrating units with shrike, that could be fun.

the redeemer force does mean you have nothing with range beyond 24" and then you really only have the assault cannons and bolters for that.

and out of the box is what i do best :)

  4. Its really an 'If I reach you with 2/3rds of my army I win' sort of list. Plus It's been a while since I played a list that actually punched things, lol.
I reckon by the end of next week I'll have my Jump Pack Blood Angels at a useable state. It will have to be the non-optimised first version though as I don't really have the resources to build any more units for it at the moment. Plus I've committed myself to going to this tournament that Leon is organising so I need to go back to thinking at 1500 point levels again for a bit.
I'm not looking forward to trying to remove the sponsons on the Raiders to magnetise them all. Doing the Rhino's was bad enough :-(

  5. but are either really necessary?

you hit stuff with 5 thunderhammers and it tends to die so the re-rolls arent strictly necessary and a 20.5" charge isnt too shabby.

those point scould be spent elsewhere. and if you really want a special character then lysander adds a large amount of flexibility to a unit by making them ablke to kill a land raider far more reliably (though khan also does that) and makes everyone stubborn which is useful in an army where the troops may easily be forced to take a panic check and nothing else relies on combat tactics

  6. I have an unopened Chaos Terminator Lord that I could use as a basis for an 'Evil' Lysander if necessary.
