Hobby Apathy Hits Again.

I new it would happen again eventually.

Didn't expect it to happen to me so soon after the last time though.

I can't be bothered to base and undercoat Guardsmen,
I can't be bothered to paint my Tyranids,
I can't be bothered to build 'Island of Blood' Skaven,
I can't be bothered to build a bike Command Squad,

I've managed to accomplish NOTHING hobby related at all since Friday night and all I did then was assemble 20 Guardsmen...

Unfortunately poorly armed humans with flash-lights aren't as much fun as giant bug monsters and I can't even be bothered to work on the giant bug monsters...

Not to mention the fact that the FLGS that I go to for motivation is about to move to a building so small that we'll be lucky to get 5 people in it simultaneously.....

That concludes my self pitying whining for a bit...I'll post something actually worth reading later...

Maybe...

  1. I think it hits us all frequently mate. I usually put my stuff away and spend a few days playing video games or other things then (like I am doing now) I feel more focused on it when I get my paints out again. It's ok, you're allowed to get apathetic from time to time :)

  2. I bet you are getting burned out from all those ehordes of simialr models. After your break from all models maybe work on a character or something.

  3. Unfortunately it is possibly the single biggest drawback of horde armies. I nearly have enough gaunts now to field an Endless Swarm and ye gods it feels more like pulling teeth than a fun hobby sorting all those damn models!

  4. I have a two year old, all I have managed to paint is one Gargoyle in the last two months.

Which shop is moving? I have not been to Brum in ages...

  5. @ Lyracian - The Sutton Coldfield GW is moving over the road to a smaller unit.
The main appeal of Sutton GW is that it has a large game room/hobby area which is why I go there. From the look of the location it's moving to they'll be lucky to get a couple of painting tables and 2 gaming tables in there.

  7. What GW has failed to take into account is that much of the money that particular store makes is from kids/people copying the regular's successful armies. If I was on commission for the amount of Predators my Marine army has inspired other people to buy...

That atmosphere of mutual assistance is lost in a small store if you can't actually spend time there comfortably.

  8. mate I just hit the wall a week or so ago , everything is a horrible chore/PITA

I'm managing to force myself to assemble my mark II serpents (just) I have 5 of 8 Skimmers assembled now and each is more painful and takes longer than the last.

As for the Flgs issues , you should check out the club in solihull , we have space and terrain for ten tables,a subsidized bar , free parking in a location about 30 seconds walk from the very center of solihull.

the rules are so much more relaxed and adult friendly than a GW It would take to long to list, come along bring some mates ;o)

  10. Tis a monday evening, kicks off at 6 and ends @ 11

We actually have provision for a larger community hall to run tournaments from once the club has matured a bit.

If you are looking for exact location, look for the solihull Royal British legion building , thats us ;o)

I see you found the club forum anyway, you can book games and arrange stuff/address issues on there :o)
