Unboxing Warzone Resurrection - Imperial Starter Set

----------

With six (now seven) awesome factions that each has their own unique character it's difficult to decide which Mutant Chronicles Warzone Resurrection force is the one for you.

I'm therefore going to do an unboxing (technically an 'unbagging' until they get packaging) on each of those aforementioned factions in order to enable you to come to a (relatively) informed decision. We'll look at the stat, strategy, tactical and gear cards as well as looking at the models in both their unassembled and assembled forms. If there should be any minor assembly issues encountered along the way then we'll cover those as well...

I'm sure you've all seen pictures of things in a bag so we'll skip that bit...

The Imperial 'Starter Set' contains enough parts to make two Trencher Officers, ten Imperial Trenchers and a Greyhound LAFV Support unit. Up until this one every Starter set gave you a legal army of one Warlord and two units of five 'troops' as well as additionally giving you some kind of Support unit or Light Vehicle as well. The Imperial Starter Set contains two Officer models instead. Apparently some of the Starter Sets will be offered in a new alternate configuration with more generic leader models instead...more news on that when I have it...

Onto the actual bits and pieces then...

Unassembled.
We'll look at both sides of the parts 'as they come' without any clean-up in order to give you a complete picture of what you get and what work they need.

Trencher Officers.

Imperial Trenchers.
You get two lots of the pictured parts...

Greyhound LAFV.

We also get a number of resource cards which vary in appearance from faction to faction...

...as well as stat cards for the units in the starter set and a number of 'Strategy', 'Tactical' and 'Gear' cards for use with the advanced rules. Some of these cards are only available with certain models but this is helpfully labelled on each card. Where there are multiple quantities of each card I'll just show one of each type.

Stat Cards.

Tactical, Strategy and Gear cards.
There are often more than one of each card and sometimes as many as three or four but showing the same cards multiple times seemed a bit redundant.

Imperial Officer.

Imperial Trenchers.

Greyhound.

Starter.
Strategy.

Tactical.

Gear.

The models come with appropriate bases but unfortunately they have slots in them but this can be easily rectified. Personally I fill them with hobby store matchsticks then base over them though there's any number of other methods. I haven't based these yet.....

Trencher Officers.
These newer models have much better joints than the older ones making attaching arms into the correct location and at the correct angle much easier. Not that there was anything particularly wrong with the older ones...these are just better...

Some Painted Ones...

Imperial Trenchers.
Each of the five bodies are different giving a good variety to the unit. Each of the two sets in the starter I received had exactly the right amount of gun arms, one of which is some form of mini-gun called a 'Charger HMG'. The aforementioned HMG is an upgrade though with the starter set there are only five weapons (one per model) so you'll have to upgrade one anyway...perhaps that weapon is so good they know you'll always take one, lol.

The Charger HMG ammo feed flexes fairly easily so you'll want to be careful with that bit.

Some Painted Ones...

Greyhound LAFV.
The 'Driver' and gun are on a circular mount and can be pointed in pretty much any direction other than backwards. I probably won't glue mine in at all so I can point it in the appropriate direction during games, lol.

A Painted One...

A Group Shot.

    1. They're excellent models. Amongst the very best Prodos have produced in my opinion.

  2. So jealous of you right now, love how the Trenchers look. Best looking regular troops in WZ:R so far I reckon.

    1. They're amazing. Each one has a different pose and the weapon arms just fall into place.

The models are a new standard not just for Prodos Games but for resin models in general...best I've ever assembled.

  3. Yes, you will always want to take a Charger. They were great in the old rule, and I'm sure they'll be just as great in the new rules.

Very much looking forward to getting my hands on these guys. My two Blood Beret Doomtroopers are getting lonely.

    1. The whole style of these models is amazing. Prodos Games are really excelling themselves with their Imperial stuff. It's making me really excited for their Ilian release in the future...
