Unboxing Malifaux - Lazarus

Not every-one's a fan of the Guild...when that individual is a Steampunk robot with a Gatling Gun you should probably be a bit worried...

This particular model had a fairly unique (By Wyrd's standards at least) style of packaging so this bit will look somewhat different from the norm...

As you can see the model parts are in two layers of a plastic moulding...

Some Malifaux boxes have instructions and others have a slip with a web address on it that leads to an instruction download page...this one has instructions...of a sort...

With the advent of version 2 (M2E) these 1.5 version stat cards are obsolete but they are included here for the sake of completeness. 

Lazarus - Assembled

It's very important that you put the arm, head and hip joints in-between the two body halves before attaching them together. There's also a hole in the centre of the back that apparently takes the screw that's in the box...I can only imagine that they thought this would make it easier to insert the aforementioned jointed parts between the body halves...it doesn't really...and you can just glue it instead if you wish. A gentleman on the 'A Wyrd Place' Facebook group said that he found the pins for the joints a little easier to work with after a little bit of shaving and also suggested that anyone who decides to do this should do so before removing them from the sprue. 

We'll talk about a few other issues in a moment...

It's possible to move the arms in a variety of ways though the range of motion in the head and legs is quite limited. In practical terms this doesn't really give you any more pose options than could be accomplished on a standard model with a bit of filing but in it's defence it does save you having to mess around doing that. The pins that go through the joints can be put in from either side and it is also possible to put the legs and arms on the wrong way around...as the pins are quite tight it's important that you don't make this mistake...

Here's some close-ups of the blue plastic tubes and their location points. The larger tubes that run from the chest to the back are a simple fit though the one on the gun required a bit more brute force and may work better if you just remove the 'push-in' bits and glue it on or you could widen the hole with a drill bit if you wish.
