Unboxing Malifaux - Executioners

I'm not entirely sure how these guys dress themselves without removing vital body parts...

'Small Box' Cover.

The Executioners box contains enough parts for two miniatures...namely the Executioners. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Executioners - Sprues.

Executioners - Stat Cards (M2E).
Blurred at Wyrd's Request...
The more observant amongst you will note that the stat cards are identical for both Executioners...whether that is only true of my box or not I'm afraid I couldn't say...

...Well apparently Sean got one of each so I best put a claim in for my missing card, lol.

Here are the official assembly instructions should you have trouble locating them.

Executioners - Assembled.
As you've probably worked out from the sprue pictures these both have some of those wonderful thin bits of cable that Wyrd loves to include on many of it's models.

Executioner 1 - Assembled.
Though containing some small parts and the aforementioned thin cables this model in the majority consists of large easy to assemble pieces. The cables have a recess in them that matches a location on the backpack and once these are correctly located the other end is easy to move into position at the gauntlets rear and then glue in place. Various pictures of the cable locations are included just below the main assembled ones to help you out with this...

Another issue with this model is the tiny bits of sprue between the blades. Removing these is a bit fiddly as the blades themselves are relatively thin. One method to do this is to hold the blades firmly with a flat bladed pliers set of some description and then use a sharp blade to remove the sprue pieces, another is to cut the central sprue bits away and remove the excess with the aforementioned scalpel. A decent pair of cutters can do the job as well but some method of holding the blade themselves stationary to prevent breakage of them while doing so is still a good idea. Whichever method you select the blades will more than likely have some 'lumps' on them that you can file flat or slice away.

Executioner 2 - Assembled.
As with the previous model the only tricky parts are the cables but as long as you align the one recessed end correctly the other aligns exceptionally well.

The first of the two plastic Executioners is basically the same as the alternate metal version as the following picture will illustrate...

Sean helpfully took some comparison pictures using his own models so here's a look at all four versions.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. How do you remove the little bits of sprue between the blades on executioners 1s gauntlets without breaking the blades?

    1. A sharp scalpel blade helps. I'll add some tips to the article now...
