Forge World Newsletter #434

They're nice enough if you're building a themed force...and I do like Dreadnoughts...

The Contemptor Dreadnoughts of the Legiones Astartes enabled the mortally injured warriors interred within them to continue to serve their Legions during the Great Crusade, and many fought at the forefront of some of the bloodiest and fiercest battles of the Horus Heresy. A large number were destroyed during those dark times, but some survived and are still in service in the Space Marine Chapters and Chaos Space Marine warbands of the 41st Millennium.

The Contemptor features improved armour and a powerful atomantic arc-reactor, providing increased speed and shielding, as well as allowing it to mount power-hungry weaponry such as the heavy conversion beamer.

These two Contemptor Dreadnoughts have been marked with the heraldry of their Legions, including the coiled hydras and chains of the Alpha Legion and the mystic symbols of the Word Bearers. They may be taken in Legiones Astartes armies in Horus Heresy games using the rules presented in
The Horus Heresy Book One – Betrayal and The Horus Heresy Legiones Astartes: Crusade Army List.

Contemptor Dreadnoughts can also be taken as part of a Space Marines army in standard games of Warhammer 40,000, for which the rules can be found in
Imperial Armour Volume Two – War Machines of the Adeptus Astartes, Second Edition or in a Chaos Space Marines army, for which rules can be found in Imperial Armour Volume Thirteen – War Machines of the Lost and the Damned

The
Alpha Legion Contemptor Dreadnought and Word Bearers Legion Contemptor Dreadnought are complete multi-part resin kits – weapon arms shown are not included and are available to purchase separately.
