Unboxing Malifaux - M2E Gunsmiths

'You can never have too much fire-power'

The Gunsmiths box contains enough parts for two miniatures...namely the Gunsmiths. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Gunsmiths - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of it...

Gunsmiths - Stat Card
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Gunsmiths - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Gunsmiths

Gunsmith 1 - Assembled
The male Gunsmith has three tiny guns to attach to the main body and these are the only tricky aspect of this model. Two of these guns have location recesses and all are fairly fiddly to locate and are difficult to grip with tweezers and still get them in the correct place so some patience is definitely required. If you have trouble working it out then there's a close-up picture below of the area in which they go for you to use as a reference.

Gunsmith 2 - Assembled
Her right leg has a gun on it's side and due to the cloak position I'd attach the gun to the leg before attaching the leg to the body to save some fiddling about later. The cutlass is thin so be careful when removing it from the sprue but has an adequate location point so actual fitting is simple. There is some leeway in arm positioning as the location point isn't the most specific but as you'll want the guns pointing straight ahead it's fairly easy to work out where they should attach.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. Hey no fair! Your sprue was intact! Got a box of these yesterday and wondered when I'd see your unboxing of them :P

Can't wait to add this to my Ramos crew, it's sorely lacking in non-magnetism ranged attacks. Loving the gangsta pose of the female one

    1. Luckily Wyrd Games are pretty good when it comes to replacement parts so they should sort out any damaged parts for you.

    2. Oh no I got everything, it's just that the sprue was cleft in twain. They were my MVP's in my most recent game- switch chambers is awesome.

  2. I'm assembling these for a friend and wow. Who rubber stamped these? So tiny and frail. I appreciate the fine details but the older metal figs are simply better. I do like the motion lines in the cloaks and the extra gun holsters, but on closer inspection it didn't continue into the rest of the model. The empty holsters on the female are clasped shut. Is she so fast drawing guns she violates the laws of physics? Plus the sword makes no sense where it is. A fencer would have their sword on a drop hip holster. Where she has it, it's impossible to draw with her left hand, and can only draw with the right AND standing still. Her arms are so frail and thin I barely believe she's ever held a real gun in her life. Really a pain to glue into place parallel. I would've had the arms in a curl, mid draw and molded them with the upper body.

    1. As far as removing from the sprew, you can get away with removing the tabs further up the sprew and then clipping away at the tabs. The sword I did use a blade on, but only after I chipped away enough to lay it down flat.

  3. Under his arm there is a VERY tiny divot for the butt of the other gun to attach.
