Unboxing Malifaux - M2E Black Blood Shamans

'Blood is thicker than water...and slightly more poisonous apparently...'

The Black Blood Shamans box contains enough parts for two miniatures...namely the Black Blood Shamans. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Black Blood Shamans - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it split into three pieces (so it actually fits in the box one presumes) as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of them...

...and here's some close-ups of the subsections.

Black Blood Shamans - Stat Cards
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Black Blood Shamans - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Black Blood Shamans

Black Blood Shaman 1 - Assembled
The spikes on the wings are thin but not excessively so though I'd still take care when removing the parts from the sprue and when holding the parts during assembly. Despite looking a bit thin the wing attachment points are more than adequate though I would recommend putting the arms and head onto the model before the wings as they get in the way if done the other way around.

Black Blood Shaman 2 - Assembled
The points I make about handling the wings on the above Shaman also apply to this one but the real issue with this one is the arms. Attaching the arms to the appropriate part of the shoulder while simultaneously trying to align the two halves of the dagger that are attached to the hands is somewhat tricky. It is possible to do but will require a bit of patience as well as test fitting before gluing...good luck...

Black Blood Shamans - Comparison Picture
Unfortunately I don't yet possess the original metal version of this model so until I do you'll have to make do with this picture rather than an actual comparison for now.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. Glueing this models was the most irritating thing I glued in my life. Especially wings and arms. Also, one head CAN'T be placed properly so there is some space between it and the rest of the model.
