Unboxing Malifaux - M2E Insidious Madnesses

"You don't have to be mad to work here...but it helps..."

The Insidious Madnesses box contains enough parts for three miniatures...namely the Insidious Madnesses. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Insidious Madnesses - Sprue
The box has two sprues in it one of which is split into two pieces (so it actually fits in the box one presumes) as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of them...

Insidious Madnesses - Stat Card
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Insidious Madnesses - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Insidious Madnesses

Insidious Madness 1 - Assembled
The assembly order is not that important with this model though dry-fitting each part first is to be recommended so as to make sure the fit is good before gluing. There are some delicate fingers on the front set of arms that you need to take care with especially if you need to trim any flash from between the fingers (this doesn't happen all the time but does occur occasionally).

Insidious Madness 2 - Assembled
This ones a bit of a pain so be systematic. This kit also has lots of parts that don't immediately seem to have an obvious location until you've added other pieces so dry fit each part before gluing and make sure each sub-assembly is correct in of itself before adding. The tongue is thin but has a significant enough location point. The 'mask' attaches to a flat on one arm but make sure to align the fingers on the mask section to the hand before fixing in place.

Insidious Madness 3 - Assembled
I built the two-part under-body piece first and then built the main body around that before adding other parts. I'm sure you can do it in other ways but this is how I did mine. This leaves obvious gaps for the other body parts to slot into and then it's just a matter of adding the out tentacles and gribbly bits on afterwards. There's a slight ridge in-between the 'teeth' along the top for the last tentacle on which the flat of the tentacle aligns with...kinda...you could pretty much put it anywhere if you so desired.

Insidious Madnesses - Comparison Picture
I never purchased the original metal model so I can't currently provide you with a comparison picture but here's a picture of it anyway for reference purposes.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
