Marvel Universe Miniatures Game - Brotherhood of Evil Mutants

The people at Knight Models have recently added a new superhero game to their existing Batman Miniatures Game in the form of a Marvel Universe Miniatures Game for which they are releasing a number of 'team' starter sets as well as individual models.

The two games are however quite different so you can't currently have Batman fighting Captain America...well...not officially at least...I'm sure some-one will attempt a very unofficial rules conversion at some point...

As an X-Men fan I obviously went with them as my first 'team' rather than the other two teams that were available as well initially (Which were The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy) and with the 'Brotherhood of Evil Mutants' also being affiliated with the 'X-Men' faction they seemed like another good choice for me to go with.

Editors Note - This article is VERY picture heavy...

The set comes with the four models on the cover, textured bases and stat cards for each though this one doesn't contain a mini-rulebook. You can download a pdf of the rulebook from Knight Models website here if you don't have one from another set. The models themselves are metal and most require some assembly. The bases however are plastic and look like this...

The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants
This particular set contains four models namely Magneto, Lady Mastermind, Pyro and Toad. Magneto's Alignment is 'neutral' and can therefore be used with both 'good' and 'villain' models whereas the rest of this set are most firmly (and unsurprisingly) in the 'villain' camp.

Here's pictures of both sides of the model in it's unassembled form.

Magneto - Stat Card
I've taken a picture of the stat card so you can see the quality and overall look as well as including a picture of the official version downloaded from the Knight Models website in case any of the info is obscured on the card version.

Magneto - Assembled
A relatively simple assembly process for this one as the body simply attaches into the head and shoulders which are already part of the cloak.

Lady Mastermind

Lady Mastermind - Assembled
This models arms created some issues as they were attached to the sprue piece by the connecting ball joint (the gun arm) and by a significant part of the upper arm (the bent arm) which required a bit more clean-up than I would have liked. The indent in the left shoulder for the gun arm to attach to also needed a bit of hollowing out as it was mostly filled with metal (a not uncommon problem with metal models and you can always cut the domed bit off the part and glue it onto the filled section if you wish). The rest however is a single piece so other than a bit of clean-up caused no problems.

Pyro - Assembled
This model simply needed the backpack attaching and a slight bending of the fuel pipes to line up with the nozzles on the back of his gloves.

Toad

Toad - Assembled
The head, ruff and left arm are a single piece which slots into a substantial location point in the body. The opposite arm and tongue are separate though the tongue is actually surprisingly easy to locate once it's been cleaned up. The only issue with this model is that the tab on the bottom is longer than the slot in the base and if cut to fit leaves either one foot or the other unattached to it and will leave one overhanging the base slightly. This isn't a major issue but I thought it was worthy of note.

Should you be interested in this set or any other models from the Marvel Universe Miniatures Game factions then this page here will let you know what models are available for each faction.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
