Unboxing The Devils Run - BritAttack Starter Set

"Rule Britannia, Britannia rule the...roads..."

The BritAttack are a faction of Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. Here's some background before we have a closer look at the models themselves...additionally the missions, instructions, advanced instructions and some 'print and play' tiles, tokens and stat cards for the core game can be downloaded from here.

The Devils Run
The Devil's Run: Route 666 is a fast-moving and hard-hitting vehicular combat board game set in a post-apocalyptic America; Each player controls a gang of ramshackle vehicles and their characterful drivers as they race across the remains of America to lay claim to aid drops, food and fuel. Each gang will do whatever it takes to get to there first...bash, crash, smash, race, win!

BritAttack
Infighting and power-struggles had near-on decimated the Texan gang as it drove across the remnants of the Lone Star State towards the West Coast. Their leader decided to go back to his roots and developed a fully functioning travelling community of sub-gangs which follows the rules and retributions of mid-twentieth century East End London. BritAttack was born.

As the Gang settles in Pacifica, CA., the cultures and traditions of each of its travelling groups must meld and combine. If they can, this 1960s British stylised Gang will be a force to be reckoned with...Groovy Baby!

BritAttack - Starter Set
The BritAttack Starter Set contains four models...One CabCroozer, One Muggy, Two Scooters and appropriate stat, character and upgrade cards for each. These models are also available separately though the faction starters are an excellent (and cheaper) way of starting a force. Lets have a look at each of these models in turn.

A Brief Note About Resin Models.
Due to the moulding process many resin models come with extraneous bits of resin that needs to be removed ranging from large lumps to smaller bits of flash and this should be removed carefully in order to avoid damaging any detail. Also it's worth noting that many resin models have a slightly greasy feel caused by the substance they use to stop them sticking to the moulds during production and this can cause issues with paint not sticking to the model properly. Carefully washing the parts in soapy water will remove this should your model be unduly affected. Parts that are bent (or that aren't and you want to be) can be corrected by heating up slightly in warm water and then bending into the required configuration.

BritAttack - Cab Croozer
The CabCroozers are designed to provide heavy fire support to the more fast moving BritAttack clans. The heavy chassis and sheer firepower that the cabs sport preclude off-road driving.

The CabCroozer - Unassembled
Here's a picture of the model in it's unassembled form prior to any clean-up.

The CabCroozer - Stat and Upgrade Cards
The CabCroozer comes with a stat card, three character cards and two upgrade cards, The upgrade cards match weapons built into the model so if you don't want to take these particular upgrades then you'd need to do a little converting. There's no upgrade card for the rockets mounted on the side for some reason...I've attached them anyway though...

The CabCroozer - Assembled
There's some resin from the moulding process to remove from the rear and underneath and the exhausts on the side required a bit of clean-up.

Here's a couple of close-ups...

BritAttack - Muggy
Nippy and highly maneuverable the BritAttack Buggy, known as a Muggy is a must have for any self-respecting Buggy driver from Austin Texas

Muggy - Unassembled

Muggy - Stat and Upgrade Cards
As well as the vehicle stat card there are four character cards and three weapon upgrades. The Napalm Flamer and Twin Machineguns are accessories that come with the kit and some of the characters get these as free upgrades.

Muggy - Assembled
I have several of these models and the clean-up required varied considerably though mainly consisted of flash removal, tidying up around the license plate on the rear and removing some flash that obscured the detail on the barrels on the rear. This last bit of clean-up was however only required on one of the four I own.

Here's a few close-ups...

BritAttack - Scooters
Favoured by the BritAttack gang because of their super-maneuverability, the scooter is a pure expression of nippy aggression.

Scooters - Unassembled

Scooters - Stat and Upgrade Cards
As well as the two cards for the vehicles there are three character cards and three upgrade cards. The 'Shooter' upgrade can only be used by the BritAttack faction but the SawnOff is a general upgrade available to any-one. The Blinders are an option for BritAttack, The Law or the Hunters.

Scooters - Assembled
There is a piece of flash between the riders legs that was difficult to remove without damaging the legs but this was obscured by the front of the scooter so wasn't a major problem. There is only one set of lights for the 'Blinders' upgrade in the set so if you want to equip more than one bike with it you may have to do a bit of conversion work.

Here's a picture of the models from the BritAttack Starter Set together on one of the game tiles to give you an idea of their relative scale.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
