Unboxing Malifaux - Arcane Emissary

"Take the bull by the horns?...Not in Malifaux..."

The Arcane Emissary box contains enough parts for one miniature...namely the Arcane Emissary. It also contains a stat card for him and a significant quantity of upgrade cards.

Arcane Emissary - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of them...

Arcane Emissary - Stat and Upgrade Cards
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Arcane Emissary - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Arcane Emissary - Assembled
The Arcane Emissary is an unusual combination of large easy to assemble sections and twiddly small parts. The blades on the arms are long and thin and the drive belts on those same arms are quite a tight fit and are relatively easy to snap (well...I managed it on one of them...). The main issue is the flaming hair/mane area which has a grand total of nine small pieces of 'flame' to attach at various points. Fortunately the instructions have numbers on them so you get a rough idea of where each part goes. I made the mistake of doing this last so all the other parts got in the way but in my defence the instructions page was down at the time so I had no guide-lines to work with. Only remove one part at a time and be systematic and you should be okay...

Here's some close-ups of some areas of interest...

Arcane Emissary - Multi-Angle View
There's no original metal or alternative views to compare this one to so instead here's a rotational view.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. I will be getting one eventually (money is limited). I will be trimming the horns down, they just look to long. Actually I will probably swap them with normal horns.
