Unboxing Malifaux - Dark Carnival Coryphee

"Unleash the flying monkeys..."

The Dark Carnival Coryphee box...well...bag actually...contains enough parts for two miniatures...namely the Dark Carnival Coryphee. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Editors Note - These models were released to go with the GenCon 2015 'Nightmare Edition' crew which was Mr Coopers Dark Carnival and are not available on general release. However they will almost certainly appear during one of Wyrd Games event sales at some point as most such models do.

Dark Carnival Coryphee - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it. Here's pictures of both sides of it...

Dark Carnival Coryphee - Stat Cards
Wyrd Games don't normally like me publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards but as this was a very limited edition model I'll make an exception in this case...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Dark Carnival Coryphee - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Dark Carnival Coryphee
The Coryphee are a pair of models that combine into a single one during the game and therefore come with a single 50mm and a pair of 40mm bases, I have however used some scenic resin ones rather than the ones provided so they match up with the equivalent crew models. As these models both have the same issues I'll do one assembly guide to cover both rather than two individual ones.

The important thing with these models is to be systematic with your assembly as each of the ribbon pieces aligns with either a models hand or a equivalent ribbon piece. There's also a considerable number of small spiky bits as well as the thin bits of ribbon so be careful when handling these parts. The ribbon piece(s) that joins the monkey to the mannequin has a decent enough attachment point so the overall model isn't quite as delicate as it may appear.

Dark Carnival Coryphee - Rotational Views
As there's no original metal models with which to compare these to here's some rotational views instead.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. Those look really fragile. Where are the bases from? What are the bases made of?

    1. The bases are resin ones from a company called Fenris Games and yes the models are very delicate indeed, lol.
