Welcome to Newsletter 111, the first of 2017.

I hope you keep subscribing to our newsletter, we've lots of new and very exciting projects for this year, you'll read about them first here.

For this month, I've a couple of announcements.

The first is the splendid Cigar Box Battle Mats are available to order again. We don't stock these mats, we place a monthly order for one big shipment. We are sending the next order off on the 20th of January, so if you want a mat early February 2017, now's the time to order.

The second is to say that if you are attending a show in the UK this year, then look for our products on the Ainsty Castings stand. Ainsty Castings already stock Frostgrave, North Star 1672 and Muskets & Tomahawks, but they are expanding their stand to include Crusader Miniatures,Artizan Design, Copplestone Castings and Pulp Figures. Please go along to support them if you are at a show. If there is something specific you want at a show, be sure to order it through ourselves or Ainsty Castings before hand to avoid disappointment.

We are having a small sale this month in our Bargain Basement, have a look through, please note it's while stocks last so don't delay in grabbing what you want.

What is coming up next?

The new French Dragon Portes will be ready to order by the next newsletter. These are creating quite a buzz amongst WW2 players, look out for a Platoon deal on the launch of them.

March 2017 will see the fourth Frostgrave supplement release. It's titled The Frostgrave Folio. We will be doing a low key Nickstarter pre-order program for this book, no new plastic figures or new ranges, but enough free stuff to persuade you to order from us rather than elsewhere.  That will start in February.

We can't say too much right now, but look out for new North Star plastic figures in support of Frostgrave: Ghost Archipeligo autumn 2017. The author Joseph McCullough tells you more in his blog here:

The Pikeman’s Lament Recreate the action and drama of 17th Century warfare on your tabletop with The Pikeman's Lament. Start by creating your Officer - is he a natural leader raised from the ranks, the youngest son of a noble family, or an old veteran who has seen too many battles? As you campaign, your Officer will win honour and gain promotion, acquiring traits that may help lead his men to victory. Before each skirmish, your Officer must raise his Company from a wide range of unit options - should he lean towards hard-hitting heavy cavalry or favour solid, defensively minded infantry? Companies are typically formed from 6-8 units, each made up of either 6 or 12 figures, and quick, decisive, and dramatic games are the order of the day. With core mechanics based on Daniel Mersey's popular Lion Rampant rules, The Pikeman's Lament captures the military flavour of the 17th Century, and allows you to recreate skirmishes and raids from conflicts such as the Thirty Years' War, the English Civil Wars, the Great Northern War and the Nine Years War.

SWORDPOINT  Swordpoint is a new set of “big battle” game rules for fighting actions in the ancient and medieval periods. It has been developed over the last two and a half years by the Gripping Beast team and an enthusiastic play-test group. It was developed with our 28mm figures but, as it employs multi-figure bases, various sizes of figures can be used. Games fought with Swordpoint involve between 100 and 250 figures per side arranged into between 6 and 12 or so units. .
