Hasslefree Miniatures Newsletter

Normal service resumes from Hasslefree Miniatures...

We're back from Salute and all steam ahead!
So this newsletter marks the end of the 'Were away at Salute' promotion and the start of regular service again.

We 'do' have all those orders to catch up on but we'll be working all week and they should be cleared by week's end, and we'll be sending out the new orders as they come in too :)
We're releasing the first batch of post Salute metals this week, and there are some 'very' requested ones in there! As we'll be busy with the KS pledge manager and catching everything back up, there won't be any metal releases for about 3 weeks or so now.

There's a Salute roundup below the new releases, for those who came, or those who just want to nose at what they missed :)

We're also going to be running a competition when the Kickstarter pledge manager is announced, so keep an eye on our FB page for that.
(Did you know you can make sure you see news from a FB page by clicking on the 'Following' tab and selecting 'see first' as the option. It simply means when you log in and refresh your fb feed, the news you want will be at the top for that one refresh, it doesn't stay there :) )

On with the pretty pics!
Metal - Grond
Grond is a half-Ogre, lost in the HF world after being caught in a rift in the Veil.  Arriving through the Veil completely naked he is seen here a couple of years later having 'acquired' pretty much everything an adventurer needs. Armed with an old beat-up sword taken from an Orc and a similarly battered buckler taken from a follower of the Dark Gods.
Grond is a very chunky figure indeed, standing 32mm in a crouch and extremely well built.
Metal - Apprentice Raisa
Raisa was only 12 when she realised she could manipulate the magicks of the Veil, they rebuilt the barn later that year.  Her abilities to transform the magicks into burning energy drew the attention of a retired adventurer who lived by the family. He contacted an old friend, an Elementalist who specialised in the sorcery of fire. He took the young Raisa as an Apprentice (and also found her older sister, Cara, was a solid bodguard, whether he wanted one or not).
Metal - Archmage Raisa
Raisa has grown in power considerably since her childhood. Now a freshly named 'Archmage' of Evermore she still travels almost exclusively with her sister, who has grown into quite the warrior herself.
Metal - Young Cara
Cara is the older of two sister who took different paths. While her younger sister Raisa was drawn towards the magicks of the Veil from an early age, Cara decided that someone needed to protect her and took up the sword.

Despite her pleasant, peaceful, appearance, Cara is a skilled warrior and has proven quite capable of making sure trouble doesn't ever quite reach her sisters person.
Metal - Foster
Foster is the stereotypical 'trucker with a heart of gold'. A tough guy on the outside and marshmallow on the inside, seen here with his trademarked snarl, a Tec 9  and the most feared weapon in the truckers arsenal, the mullet.
Metal - Pulse
'Pulse' is a member of the same underground society as Jynx. Her powers are slightly less flashy and she is seen her slinking off into the night and pulling up her hoodie.

Another mini for those who wanted either modern civilians or minis that could be used for games like Shadowrun.
Mini Salute Report & Thanks
The progression from our empty space on Friday to about 10.15am  on Saturday morning, 15 minutes after doors opened. :)
That's 11 racks of HF product, 8 racks of non-HF product, 2 custom lit hanging display cases, 2 free standing front display case, 27 stock boxes, 30 feet of banners and good 150 welsh cakes!

A huge thanks to everyone who came to see us at Salute this year. We had another great year and it's all down to you guys and gals who come say allo, spend some of your hard earned cash and generally make us feel like this isn't all a waste of time :D

I'd also like to thank our team for the day, The Whites of course came down and did the bulk of the roaming help, Meg in particular was the star of the day. This year they were helped by Matt Lucas, who's painted works are some of our store miniatures, and sort of helped by Scott Hockley who was also there ;)

Behind the HF stand, as always, were the inimitable  Neil and Dave without whom I'd have to actually serve someone! Thanks guys!

You likely wouldn't have seen the last member of the team, Wyn (commonly and unusually known as Wyneth Paltrow), as he's basically the glue that stuck together the retail half of the stand then went for a well earned break at the demo table :)

And last, but most definitely not least, I'd like to thank my beautiful wife Jenn who drives the giant van all the way from (and back to) Wales, then works the entire Saturday too! Thankfully this year she found the Starbucks at the end of Excel so was all set :D

Roll on Salute 2018!
A Special Salute Thanks
I'm squeezing in a special thanks to a longtime customer of ours. Every year he brings us a little light refreshment at Salute but this year, after seeing it was Jenn's and My 5th wedding anniversary, brought us a gift :)

As well as a little alcoholic and sweet treat, as 5th is 'wooden', there was a lovely little Japanese puzzle box in there that delighted Jenn no end (and she stole the present inside ;) ).

Thanks John :D
Random Platypus
The guys from Random Platypus did us proud at the show, running two separate participation games which were busy all day!
Despite their motto they did 'far' more than the bare minimum. The Fantasy board featured a giant handmade hill with a hidden dwarfhold underneath it and the Sci-Fi board was stuffed full of small and impressive detail that really needed someone with a tiny camera to take a walkthrough of the halls :D
The gang also painted a large number of our miniatures and hand-made the scatter scenery used in both games.
Thanks guys!
And Finally...
Top Pics - In case any Salutegoers were wondering which one was me, I was the loud Welsh one who was very happy to find that there was a last jam & cream welshcake left for him :)
Bottom Pic - We ran into the guys and gals from Hysterical Games on the way out and went to the same dinner for a post-Salute treat. I, as I usually am, was 'super generous' and bought all 7 of them a milkshake! (Yes, 1 milkshake with 7 straws does count!).
In return the incredibly cheap Rob & Hannah returned my impressively generous gesture by sending over a tap water! Pour scorn on them! Look how sad I was! :(
(The guys from Word Forge Games are also there but bear no blame for this shocking incident, I think I even saw them pleading with Rob not to be so cheap. To be fair, he didn't even have a banner at Salute so his cheapness seems to know no bounds! Go buy some of his stuff at Hysterical so he can get a nice banner ;) )

For the KS pledgers out there, I am awaiting the resin masters of the last Kev minis before uploading them to our pledge manager and launching that. For those who missed our Kickstarter it will also be open for late pledging until early June. Fulfillment is still set for the end of July.
Kev has (pretty much) finished all of his KS minis, so for a while at least, will be back to making random and amazing things again! Keep an eye on his artist's FB page for what he is currently working on!

Right that's it, I can't hink of anything else so I'm out! 'Til next time,
Arty.
