Unboxing Malifaux - Alternate Joss 'Dr Alexei Sokolov'

"Those don't look like scalpels..."
The Dr Alexei Sokolov box/bag contains enough parts for one miniature...namely Dr Alexei Sokolov. It also contains a stat card for him though there are no upgrade cards. As this was from one of Wyrd's periodic 'sale' events it came in a bag rather than a box...which makes this an 'unbagging' I suppose...

Should you for some reason be looking for the original version of Dr Alexei Sokolov in his original incarnation as Joss then his unboxing and review as part of the Ramos crew can be found HERE while the original metal versions feature can be found HERE.

Dr Alexei Sokolov - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned card. Here's pictures of both sides of it...

Dr Alexei Sokolov - Stat Card
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Dr Alexei Sokolov - Instructions
No 'official' instructions for this one so you'll have to make do with my pics instead...

Some General Notes on Assembly
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Dr Alexei Sokolov - Assembled
The separate leg, head and arms have adequate attachment points. Once the head and neck is added to the body a small recess is created in the models back into which the centre of the cable piece attaches and the cable (which is delicate so be careful) then aligns with the models mechanical right arm. I had some trouble with this part and had to widen the hole/recess slightly with a hobby knife in order to get a flush fit and in doing so created a slight gap that you may notice on the pictures. The poor fit is the models fault...though I take full blame for the hole...

Here's a rotational view...

Dr Alexei Sokolov - Comparison Pictures
Here's a few comparison pictures between the original metal version, the newer plastic one and this Alternate Josh...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...
