Unboxing Malifaux - Rowan Nilsson (Alternate Rafkin)

"Catch..."
This model is available to purchase via Wyrd Games various sale events or possibly via their 'Guilder' scheme if you're lucky enough to be (or be willing to perform 'favours' for) a local Henchmen or attend certain events...I acquired mine via one of the aforementioned sales...it also came in a bag rather than a box...making this an unbagging I suppose...

The Rowan Nilsson bag contains enough parts for one miniature...namely Rowan Nilsson. It also contains a stat card for her though there are no upgrade cards. Should you be looking for the original plastic (and male) version rather than this one then his feature can be found HERE.

RAFKIN
Rafkin has always been fascinated with death. Throughout medical school he scoffed at his classmates who simply tried to preserve life. Such a temporary affair! When he was expelled and came to Malifaux, he got a job in the mortuary. Now he spends his days running errands between Nicodem and McMourning, and he couldn’t be happier. He has finally found some kindred spirits…

Rafkin excels at exploiting the Poison Condition. He can Charge models that have Poison for 1 AP, deal more damage to Poisoned models, and even heal friendly models that have the Poison Condition. He darts into combat, targeting those who have already been marked with Poison and ripping them to shreds. He can even apply Poison at a range with his “Flask of Formaldehyde” action. He is excellent in a list with McMourning or one that has models capable of handing out Poison, which includes much of the faction.

Rowan Nilsson - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of it.

Rowan Nilsson - Stat Card
Stat cards in the official format can now be downloaded from Wargame Vault for a nominal fee from HERE.

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Rowan Nilsson - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Rowan Nilsson - Assembled
Attach the front piece of the skirt to the body in order to create the attachment point for her left leg. The smaller remaining skirt piece goes in the gap on the right to create the attachment point for the opposite leg. Dry fit this smaller piece first as it will slip slightly off to one side of it's correct location if you're not careful though the correct position is fairly obvious as the belt piece aligns with the larger front piece. When attaching the right leg note that the material piece on the front aligns with a small gap in the right skirt piece.
On the tiny spiky hair bit be careful not to break the tiny spikes...it'll make sense when you see the piece...it's tiny and has spikes which are also tiny...
The ribbon goes at the skirts rear into a slot in the centre. The arms are really small but at least they have a recess part to align with the body on each. Also the fingers and bottleneck are quite small and delicate so be careful not to break them.

Rowan Nilsson - Comparison Picture
Here's a comparison between this female version and the original metal one who was male...there's a picture comparing the metal and plastic male versions HERE in it's own feature but it seemed a bit redundant to put one here as well...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
I purchase my miniatures from Leodis Games (Link Below) and can highly recommend them.
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...
