Unboxing Malifaux - Vintage Pandora

"What's in the Box?!?!?"
The Vintage range of miniatures are sometimes found in prize support 'mystery boxes' as well as available to purchase via Wyrd Games various sale events or via their 'Guilder' scheme if you're lucky enough to be (or be willing to perform 'favours' for) a local Henchmen or attend certain events...I acquired mine via one of the aforementioned sales...it also came in a bag rather than a box...making this an unbagging I suppose...

The Vintage Pandora bag contains enough parts for one miniature...namely Vintage Pandora. It also contains a stat card for her though there are no upgrade cards.

Pandora
The Neverborn take on many guises, but none are so at odds with their true nature as Pandora's glamorous appearance. Pandora uses her youthful, genuine demeanour to walk the City’s streets undisturbed, thus enabling her to pursue her dark and terrible agendas without molestation. She carries with her an ancient box which remains firmly sealed until she is ready to release its contents. Even while the box is closed Pandora sometimes whispers to it, cocking her head to one side to listen to voices no one else can hear. Opening the box unleashes pandemonium, twisting sanity until the lines of reality blur into in-consequence.

Pandora became a thrall of the box for a short time, serving as a conduit. Her previously shaky sanity was further compromised by her experience. Her maliciously mischievous side has warped into a sadistically cruel streak which can rear its ugly head at any time. Even her pet Woes know better than to stay too close to their mistress when the mood strikes her. They have seen firsthand the damage the box is capable of wreaking on even their sullied existence.

Now Pandora is a force of suffering in all of Malifaux. Walking the edges of consciousness and feeding upon the terrible anguish of the populace. Unlike Lilith, she has little desire to see humanity cast from Malifaux, as they are delicious treats for her macabre whims.

Where Pandora walks, hope dies.

Vintage Pandora - Sprue
The bag has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of it...

Vintage Pandora - Stat Card
Wyrd Games don't normally like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards but as the stats for their masters are on their website I don't think it matters in this case...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Vintage Pandora - Instructions
Couldn't find any official assembly instructions so you'll have to make do with my pictures I'm afraid...

Some General Notes on Assembly
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Vintage Pandora - Assembled
One of the cloak pieces has two raised pieces on it which join her upper and lower body sections together. The larger of the cloak sections attaches at the shoulders while the two smaller pieces (the aforementioned one with the indentations on and another one) go around the waist. Pandora's legs have a piece on the feet which slots into a gap on one of the skulls so don't remove it thinking it's sprue and there's a second raised piece on the legs rear which fits into a slot in another of the skulls for increased stability.
Note - It's been pointed out to me by Patrick Kirby on the Neverborn Facebook group 'Ours! A Place for the Neverborn' that the model looks a little odd from some side angles as she has no obvious moulding of a nose. That is to say that she has from the front but inexplicably doesn't seem to have when viewed from the side.
The writhing mass of skulls emerging from the box are a lot less daunting than they look as each has definite attachment points on both the box and (where appropriate) each other. The multiple angle pictures and rotational view within this article should help. Here's a selection of pictures of the base elements that should cover most the joints you need to concern yourself with...

Vintage Pandora - Comparison Picture
Here's a comparison picture between the original metal version, alternate metal version, the newer plastic one from the box set and the vintage one from this article. There is I believe another version that I don't possess on which the 'vintage ' one is based but I don't have one...sorry...

Vintage Pandora - Rotational View
Here's a rotational view...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...
