Unboxing Malifaux - Vintage Sonnia

"It's about to get hot in here..."
The Vintage range of miniatures are sometimes found in prize support 'mystery boxes' as well as available to purchase via Wyrd Games various sale events or via their 'Guilder' scheme if you're lucky enough to be (or be willing to perform 'favours' for) a local Henchmen or attend certain events...I acquired mine via one of the aforementioned sales...it also came in a bag rather than a box...making this an unbagging I suppose...

The Vintage Sonnia bag contains enough parts for one miniature...namely Vintage Sonnia. It also contains a stat card for her though there are no upgrade cards.

Sonnia Criid
Where there is order, there is always someone trying to disrupt that order.  Sonnia has spent her professional life perfecting the use of her own magic in order to fight against the Arcanists and other illegal magic-users, literally fighting fire with fire. Many members of the Guild feel that she might be overstepping her boundaries, becoming more mage than Guild, but Sonnia understands that sometimes you must cut yourself free of traditional methods and answer your enemy's tactics in kind.

While the Guild battles many threats in the open, Sonnia's task is much harder. The Miners and Steamfitters Union is loved by many in Malifaux, but she has seen through their front. It is more than a worker's rights group: it is a full crime syndicate that must be stopped by any means necessary. It is not enough to raze the offices with fire. Instead, the Witch Hunter Task Force's job must be more subtle. Accidents must happen and conflicts must always be painted such that the M&SU leaders appear to be the instigators. It is a careful war that Sonnia must wage and there are few loyal enough to stay by her side.

Sonnia's great runed blade has struck down more than one witch, enchanted as it has been to confer even greater power over others who use magic. Even when it does not strike a killing blow, the long blade will bind a witch's powers with even the slightest graze. Sonnia will not say where she learned the art of such runed magic, but the Guild has given her free reign in her pursuit of illegal magic use and soulstone recovery.

Vintage Sonnia - Sprue
The bag has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of it...

Vintage Sonnia - Stat Card
Wyrd Games don't normally like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards but as the stats for their masters are on their website I don't think it matters in this case...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Vintage Sonnia - Instructions
Couldn't find any official assembly instructions so you'll have to make do with my pictures I'm afraid...

Some General Notes on Assembly
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Vintage Sonnia - Assembled
So you'll need to attach the pistol to the left leg before attaching the leg to the model or it's a bugger to get into place. The rest of the model is a simple enough assembly process and as the sword and chain are mostly a single assembly you shouldn't break the chain. A separate chain piece slots into the rear but has a a large attachment point and you can clearly see the location by looking at the rear views of my various model pictures. It's also worth noting that the collar piece of her coat at the rear of the neck will go on upside-down...

Vintage Sonnia - Comparison Picture
Here's a comparison picture between the original metal version and the newer plastic one and a group shot of the four versions of Sonnia Criid I currently have...

Vintage Sonnia - Rotational View
Here's a rotational view...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...
