Unboxing Turf War Z - US Spec Ops Team

Some time ago I pledged to a skirmish game called Turf War Z via Kickstarter which was a collaboration between Studio Miniatures and Broken Spirit Wargames. I have purchased several models from Studio Miniatures ranges before so was confident that the model quality would be good and the overall concept of the game interested me.
This new game system will be supported with a range of new 28mm white metal miniatures as well as buildings, resin vehicles and resin street furniture. Also all of their existing Z-Clipz miniatures (Survivors and Zombies) will apparently be fully compatible within the game so I can use some of their miniatures that I've already purchased over the years.

Here's a bit of background before we have a look at one of the gangs.
Turf War Z is set on the mean streets of L.A. at the start of what will become the zombie apocalypse, where the US government has started to wall off and quarantine large sections of the city to prevent further outbreaks...or so they say!

As the truth comes out people realise that the government is actually behind the outbreak, secretly and illegally testing new drugs on the population by working with the drug cartels to contaminate the street drug trade. Some of these experiments have resulted in the deaths and reanimation of their victims. More worrying are the newer cases of altered or mutated reanimates with terrifying abilities.

Set against this backdrop Turf War Z gives you control of one of the many street gangs or factions that have sprung up within the quarantine or "safe" zones. Whether you take control of the many Latino, Black or Biker gangs that have taken control of their local turf or one of the ad hoc LAPD or survivor gangs trying to protect their suburb at all costs, Turf War Z has something for everyone. We will be including the opening background section of the Turf War Z story via updates during the campaign.

In this feature we'll be looking at one of the available gangs.
US Spec Ops Team
The US Spec Ops Kill Team. This is a special unit introduced in the game when a regular gang becomes too large and/or successful. Sent in by US Government to eradicate any threats to the quarantine zones.

Studio Miniatures ranges are often inspired by character from film and television and so these might seem vaguely familiar...

This particular 'gang' comes with set weaponry but the heads are separate so in theory you can create a variety of looks...however with these models there is most definitely a correct choice, lol.

Here's pictures of both sides of the models in their unassembled form.

'Dutch'

'Dillon'

'Blaine'

'Mac'

'Billy'

'Poncho'

'Hawkins'

As it's sometimes difficult to see all the detail when photographing white metal miniatures here's some official painted versions for you to have a look at.

At some point in the future I'll do features on some of the other gangs if there's enough interest.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...
