Unboxing Malifaux - Guild Investigators

"Evidence?!?!?...What evidence?"
The Guild Investigators box contains enough parts for two miniatures...namely The Guild Investigators. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Guild Investigators
Since the opening of the first Breach ten years ago, the Guild has been operating a pragmatic and arguably effective government in Malifaux. Despite the many challenges and threats, it has faced in the past decade, the Guild's iron-clad grip on Malifaux has only tightened.
Part of the reason for its success is the Guild's Willingness to get its hands dirty. Every Criminal investigation in the city, from murders to the white collar crime, is headed up by one of the Guild's many Investigators.
The Primary task of an Investigator is not to solve the crime (though that's appreciated when it happens), but rather to ensure that any evidence points toward anyone but the Guild. More than one eyewitness has "disappeared" because they stubbornly disagreed with an Investigator's creative interpretation of events.

Guild Investigators - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it split into two pieces (so it actually fits in the box one presumes) as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of them and close-ups of the sub-assemblies.

Guild Investigators - Stat Cards
Stat cards in the official format can now be downloaded from Wargame Vault for a nominal fee from HERE.

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Guild Investigators - Instructions
I couldn't find any official instructions for this model so you'll have to make do with my pictures and tips. When they appear in the wild I'll insert them here.

Some General Notes on Assembly
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Guild Investigators

Guild Investigator A - Assembled
I added the separate coat piece first so as to give me something to align the legs with. Also be very careful with the delicate finger on right hand as it'll be very easy to snap it off the hand while handling the part or removing it from the sprue.

Guild Investigator B - Assembled
Fix the separate coat piece in place before adding the bundle. Also add the bundle before trying to add the front arm. You'll also need to dry-fit the arm and bundle as there's a bit of play in the bundle that can make arm tricky to align with the gap. Also the legs are difficult to align as the left leg seems to slide further back than the right making alignment off and it might be necessary in certain cases to glue the left leg slightly forward so it aligns with the right one...basically you'll need to dry-fit these bits and see how the alignment works for you.

Samantha Joelsson on the 'A Wyrd Place' Facebook group also had this to say " I fully assembled the guy’s coat and then found the gap was a hair too narrow to insert his torso piece. It took pressure and a bit of oil to slip torso into coat, but it eventually snapped into place."

Guild Investigators - Rotational Views
Here's a couple of rotational views...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
I purchase my miniatures from Leodis Games (Link Below) and can highly recommend them.
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...
