Throne of Skulls - Adam

Though I love him like a brother, Adam is about as reliable as an unreliable thing that's been made Chairman of the unreliable club then forgot to turn up for his own ceremony and therefore been made Chairman again the following year for services to unreliability.

Therefore I'll be both amazed (and forced to eat humble pie) should he actually send me anything about his experiences at the 'Throne of Skulls', lol. If he does however I'll add it in later.....

What he lacks in reliability he more than makes up in mad painting skills however as Adams army was one of the 10 nominated for 'Best Painted'.

His Army List.
I have also been forced to work out his Army List through a combination of memory and looking at pictures so apologies if I've got anything massively incorrect.

And now the Pictures.

Game 1 and 2?
Vs. Marines.
Either I missed out a game completely or Adam played two very similarly painted Marine armies.

Game 3.
Vs Imperial Guard.

Game 4.
Vs. Space Wolves.
Those Thunderwolves were Juggernauts of Khorne with Green Stuff used to give them fur. I was (I must admit) quite impressed by them.

Game 5.
Vs. Tyranids.
As a Tyranid player myself I noticed a few errors in units stated weapon and ability stats from Adams opponent this game which I politely pointed out to him. His opponent seemed genuinely surprised that Hive Guard weapons were only AP4 rather than AP3 and that the Swarmlord's Preferred Enemy ability only works in the casting players turn. Everybody makes mistakes I know, though they more often than not seem to be favourable mistakes rather than detrimental ones.....

Thoughts, comments and other input are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. Beautiful white scars army... However as a white scars fanatic I am a sad panda.
    Dreadnoughts? White Scars army? No.
    Doesn't happen.

  2. Its in a Drop Pod and nowhere in the fluff does it say they dont use them, so i think its fine.

And i love these articles about other players hobbies. I suggest though you get a bit more insight into there army list choices though or maybe a more interview style set up would be awesome and a after action report on how they felt they got on what theyed change ect.

  3. @ Boomstick - It's the first time I've tried anything like this so any constructive input to improve the format for the next time will be gratefully received.

  4. Adams army does look pretty cool. I can't help but think he took a pretty lame list though. Was he trying to fit in with the new "weekend of games but no competition, throne of skulls" notion.

Heyya i was the tyranid player from game 5, first of all as during the game i did make a couple simple mistakes which you did point out to me and were corrected so i can only thank you for that, but adam was quite possibly the best sport id seen all weekend and i loved that game the most and thank him for that as for my first tournament ive learned things from playing him and look forward to another game in the future

  6. @ Aaronty - Adam is a great guy and I know he enjoyed that game a great deal as well. Hopefully we'll get to meet again at future events as everybody seemed to be having a great time.

  8. "..and nowhere in the fluff does it say they dont use them.."

I rolled White Scars for fluff reasons, they do not use Dreadnoughts.

"The remainder of the Chapter is organized differently from most Codex Astartes chapters, due to the style of warfare favoured by the Chapter. For example, their Librarians are known as Stormseers. They also do not possess any Dreadnoughts since the thought of confining a warriors' spirit within a sarcophagus is abhorrent to them."" - Index Astartes articles

That's one of the main things that's stayed consistant since the dawn of white scars till now

  9. The fluff for EVERY chapter changes depending where you source the material from. GW never stays consistant on anything.

Sure White Scars may prefer not to use dreads, and if the did they would have to pod them or stormraven them in to fit with their preferred used ambush tactics. But even then like all chapters White Scars cannot always choose how they fight, thay can't always ambush an enemy outpost by the dead of night, at some point they are going to have to defend something... and I don't think they'd have a problem with a couple of dreads backing them up. :)
