Unboxing Malifaux - Alternate Ototo

"Don't make him angry..."
The Alternate Ototo box contains enough parts for one miniature...namely Alternate Ototo. It also contains a stat card for him though there are no upgrade cards.

Alternate Ototo
Ototo has always been strong, and combining that brute strength with proper training made Ototo one of the Oyabun’s most trusted servants. Upon coming to Malifaux, Ototo realized he could control the thunder itself.  He has since donned a mask and discarded his given name in favor of Ototo. Now, he is a faceless servant, the visage of everything the Ten Thunders are capable of.

Ototo is a large melee model. His Massive Tetsubo’s attack has a 3” range, allowing him to lock down multiple enemies in combat. He also has “Hard to Kill” and the “Enrage” ability, which combo nicely together. Finally, he has “Laugh Off,” which prevents enemies from moving him. Ototo can simultaneously hold a location and pummel enemies, leaving other models free for different tasks. Who doesn’t want an enraged maniac on their side who laughs at the enemy as he wields a Massive Tetsubo?

Alternate Ototo - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of it.

Alternate Ototo - Stat Cards
Stat cards in the official format can now be downloaded from Wargame Vault for a nominal fee from HERE.

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Alternate Ototo - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.
Additionally...my own assembly notes are written as I go along so I'd suggest reading them all the way through before starting the assembly process.

Alternate Ototo - Assembled
This model is a fairly easy to put together as most of it is the main body. The only minor issue is that you'll need to put the shoulder armour on before his head/hair section as otherwise the hair gets in the way of the left pad.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
I purchase my miniatures from Leodis Games (Link Below) and can highly recommend them.
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...

  1. Nice to see a more RPG usable Ototo but I can't see why he's more expensive than the alt Rogue Necromancy
