Unboxing Malifaux - Obsidian Oni

"Would you like it crushed or on fire?"

The Obsidian Oni box contains enough parts for three miniatures...namely the Obsidian Oni. It also contains stat cards for them though there are no upgrade cards.

Obsidian Oni - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it split into two pieces (so it actually fits in the box one presumes) as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of them as well as some close-ups of the sub-assembly's.

Obsidian Oni - Stat Cards
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Obsidian Oni - Instructions
There aren't any instructions yet but I'll put them here when there are...

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Obsidian Oni

I've based the Obsidian Oni on Wyrd Games 40mm Asian Zen base Inserts for those who are interested in such things.

Obsidian Oni  A - Assembled
This model mainly consists of two body halves that fit together with the addition of a piece on the front. The only small (ish) parts are one arm and the head though neither are prohibitively so. All the parts have very definite attachment points and with the model being made up of only six parts in total it's a fairly simple assembly job.

Obsidian Oni B - Assembled
Another six part model though four of these make up the main body (two torso halves and separate legs). The other two are the head and club like weapon. The weapon has the right arm and left hand attached and has to be aligned with the wrist and shoulder of the main body section and did so just fine. The club handle section is however quite thin so be careful when removing this part from the sprue and with it's subsequent handling.

Obsidian Oni C - Assembled
Just five parts on this one with one of these being most of the body and the Oni's double ended club. The club handle is quite thin so be careful when removing this part from the sprue and with it's subsequent handling. I'd also suggest adding the leg before the back half of the model to give yourself more room in the region of the aforementioned delicate staff piece. That just leaves the cloak and the head which fit with no issues.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

    3. I'll be ordering some stuff from Gencon but I get hit with a lot of import taxes to here in the UK from America so I will have to pick and choose what I order.

So yes there will be some pre-release features but on what I couldn't say yet and it definitely wont be everything unfortunately.
