Unboxing The Devils Run - Freelancer 'The Gentleman'

"Care for some relish with that?..."
The Gentleman is a 'Freelancer' model for Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. Of course if you've never seen the game before then those terms are meaningless to you...so first here's some background...

The Devils Run
The Devil's Run: Route 666 is a fast-moving and hard-hitting vehicular combat board game set in a post-apocalyptic America; Each player controls a gang of ramshackle vehicles and their characterful drivers as they race across the remains of America to lay claim to aid drops, food and fuel. Each gang will do whatever it takes to get to there first...bash, crash, smash, race, win!
Freelancers
Some seeks solace in the sanctity of isolation, whereas others are shunned and cast out by the community they once called home. Whatever the reason they find themselves alone in the wild, it is a difficult and dangerous existence. Some of these lost souls (or are they found?), eke out a living by offering their services to the gangs. Collectively they are known as Freelancers, but this is really all they have in common.

If you want to read more about this awesome character, check out the Fallen Angels novella...

A Note About Resin Models
Due to the moulding process many resin models come with extraneous bits of resin that needs to be removed ranging from large lumps to smaller bits of flash and this should be removed carefully in order to avoid damaging any detail. Also it's worth noting that many resin models have a slightly greasy feel caused by the substance they use to stop them sticking to the moulds during production and this can cause issues with paint not sticking to the model properly. Carefully washing the parts in soapy water will remove this should your model be unduly affected. Parts that are bent (or that aren't and you want to be) can be corrected by heating up slightly in warm water and then bending into the required configuration.

The Gentleman - Unassembled
Here are pictures of both sides of the unassembled parts.
There's a piece of excess moulding material attached to the rear of the main main piece of this model but it's attached to a featureless section beneath the car so no detail is lost when it's removed.

Note - The vehicles are roughly 20mm scale so are compatible with games that use Matchbox or Hot Wheels models.

The Gentleman - Stat and Upgrade Cards
The Gentleman comes with six cards. One of these is the models stat card, one is a character card for the driver and four are upgrade cards. Two of the upgrades are both generic so in theory could be used on any vehicle if you were up for some conversion work and the other two are specific to the Freelancers faction.

The Gentleman - Assembled
After removing the piece of resin beneath the rear, assembling this model is a simple case of adding the separate gun. If of course you don't want to add the gun then it's simpler still...
Here's a few close-up pictures as well...

The Gentleman - Painted
Here's an official picture from their website of a painted version.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...

Unboxing The Devils Run - Freelancer 'Road Eagle'

"The man...the machine..."
The Road Eagle is a 'Freelancer' model for Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. Of course if you've never seen the game before then those terms are meaningless to you...so first here's some background...

Road Eagle - Stat Card
The Road Eagle comes with a single card. The model itself can be equipped with one Buggy or Car forward weapon so works best if you already have some of those cards from other purchases.

Note - The vehicles are roughly 20mm scale so are compatible with games that use Matchbox or Hot Wheels models.

Road Eagle - Assembled
The upper body simply needs adding to the bike and the lot adding to the base. There's a small amount of clean-up to be done but it's fairly minor.
Here's a couple of close-up pictures as well.

Any resemblance to the following television show is purely coincidental...

Road Eagle - Render
Here's an official picture of the initial render for this model.

Unboxing The Devils Run - The Dominator

"Size does matter..."

The Dominator is a multi-faction model for Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. The missions, instructions, advanced instructions and some 'print and play' tiles, tokens and stat cards from the 'Route 666' starter set can be downloaded from here if you'd like a bit of a taster.

The Dominator
The Dominator can be taken by either The Law Haulage Company, The Jets or The Avante Guard though only The Law can take multiples. The named version is a Freelancer so can join any faction.

A Note About Resin Models.
Due to the moulding process many resin models come with extraneous bits of resin that needs to be removed ranging from large lumps to smaller bits of flash and this should be removed carefully in order to avoid damaging any detail. Parts that are bent (or that aren't and you want to be) can be corrected by heating up slightly in warm water and then bending into the required configuration.

The Dominator - Unassembled
Here are some pictures of the unassembled parts.

The Dominator - Stat and Upgrade Cards
The Dominator comes with seven cards. There's stat cards for the generic and named versions of the vehicle itself, one for a character driver and four weapon upgrades. Some of the upgrades are generic while others are faction specific.

The Dominator - Assembled
This model is for the most part a single piece with the exception of the 'Harpoon'. This weapon requires some flash removing before attachment but is otherwise issue free. Some extra clean-up was required around the front of the vehicle as there's a fair sized lump of resin to remove.

Here's a few close-up pictures as well.

The LAW 1138 Harpoon is an upgrade specific to the Law Haulage faction so if you're using the vehicle with a different faction then there's a hatch on the vehicles roof underneath where it would go so you still have detail in that location.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
