Unboxing and Review - Macrocosm Digger Starter Set

There are many reasons why people take in an interest in new game systems. Some times it's a particularly inspiring model, an interesting rule-set or characterful artwork...this one seems to be going for the nostalgia vote, lol.

For those of you who have a look at this feature and have their interests piqued then you can find the games website here and information on this faction specifically here.

The play-test rules can also be located for free download from this page here.

Those of you who are familiar with a certain race *cough* Squats *cough* from another game system will certainly find these models of interest. It's also worth noting that the other faction bears a startling resemblance to a certain cult that liked to steal genes but I'm sure that's just coincidence, lol.

Here are the Digger Corps...

The Starter Set comes with a leader and his followers that consist of five Digger Corps troopers and a couple of Og Corpsmen.

Digger Boss
Unassembled

Assembled
The model has a single piece to attach (the 'gripper' arm) and no assembly issues (what with the rest of the model being one piece).

Digger Corps Troopers
Unassembled

Assembled
The models have slightly different poses so your force isn't duplicates of all the same model and all the Troopers are single piece models. You may need to bend straighten out a couple of guns but other than that trivial issue the models are problem free.

Digger Corps Og Corpsmen
Unassembled
The starter set actually only comes with the two 'Og Corpsmen' models but I also acquired a 3rd Og that I'll talk about in a bit.

Assembled
These guys need a little more assembly than the basic troopers but the attachment points are all large enough to get a good contact and everything lined up fine. In order to get a firm fit I used a tiny blob of 'green stuff' as well as super-glue to keep everything together as some of the metal parts are quite heavy.

Digger Corps Og Earthmover
This one doesn't come in the starter set...
Assembled
I assembled this one in the same manner as the Og Corpsmen and had no issues.

Here's a couple of group pictures. The first one shows the starter set with the second including the Og 'Earthmover'.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

Sunday Round-up

A moderately productive week this time around.

My change of shift pattern didn't mess me up quite as badly as I thought it would and I managed to get unboxings done of the latest Malifaux crew release of Ironsides 'Troubleshooters' starter set and one of the Johan model. I also did a feature on the female alternative model of Johan (inventively called Johana) and all of those can be found in the 'Unboxing Malifaux' tab at the top of the blog.

I also wrote up the seventh session of our Privateer Press Iron Kingdoms RPG that finished off my turn as GM before tagging in Tom to do a mission of his own (He foresees it lasting three sessions but sometimes these things overrun as the players do stupid things you weren't expecting, lol). Then our original GM Andrew will probably take a turn. Our various sessions as well as the background material for the campaign can be found in this section of the blog here.

I've also been working on an un-boxing of a starter set for a new game called Macrocosm as well as finally getting around to assembling my Drop Zone Commander Scourge and features on both these projects should appear Monday and Tuesday of next week respectively.

I have however fell behind on several of the tabs such as the 'Newsletter' one but as this information can also be found in the blog sidebar that's not particularly important though I will get around to it before next Sunday.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
