GenCon Exclusive Preview Model: Tater, Handsome Guardian:
Perhaps one of the most exciting release for GenCon is our preview model for the forthcoming Farmers Guild: Tater. Featuring exclusive pre-release rules designed to allow any player to test out the forthcoming Farmers Guild mechanics (the planting and reaping of harvest tokens) in their casual games. We’re having such a blast with Tater here at SFG that we’re sure he’s going to be a big hit with the fans!

Tater will be available in extremely limited quantities and in order to ensure that everyone has a chance at him, regardless of what days they are attending, we will be releasing a set number for sale every morning of the show. So if you want to get your hands on him be sure to stop by as soon as the vendor hall opens. An extremely limited number of Tater’s will also be available through the Locker-room while supplies last.
Season 2 Mascots:
We are very excited to be able to have a number of all the Season 2 Mascots available at GenCon. The Mascots will be available in limited quantities and in order to ensure that everyone has a chance to pick one up for their team, regardless of what days they are attending, we will be releasing a set number for sale every morning of the show. So if you want to get your hands on them be sure to stop by as soon as the vendor hall opens.

While the currently released Season 2 Mascots will be available through the Locker-Room at this time we will be unable to offer the pre-release mascots for sale. Please contact your local game store to place your pre-order!
Guild Mugs:
That’s right, for the first time ever at GenCon we will have faction mugs with your favorite Guild logos on them. They make great tea and coffee mugs as well as paint water mugs. These will be available for a limited time at both GenCon and through the Locker-Room so make sure you order yours as soon as the go on sale to make sure you don’t miss out!
One final note, please be aware that due to our staff being out of the office that Locker-Room orders will take up to 4 weeks to process.

That’s all for now. We cannot wait to see everyone next week at GenCon (booth 3025) so make sure you swing by and say hi!

Unboxing Malifaux - Brutal Emissary

"Cage, coffin or sword...the choice is yours..."

The Brutal Emissary box contains enough parts for one miniature (albeit a pretty damn big one)...namely the Brutal Emissary. It also contains a stat card for him and a number of upgrade cards.

Brutal Emissary - Sprue
The box has one sprue in it as well as the aforementioned cards. Here's pictures of both sides of it...

Brutal Emissary - Stat Card
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...I'm posting the upgrade cards as is though...

Should there be any assembly issues with the model then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Brutal Emissary - Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Brutal Emissary - Assembled
The main model is a simple enough assembly process as long as you're systematic and the parts themselves are quite substantial. The only part that may create a problem or two is the cage sub-assembly.

Each of the circular 'cage' pieces has several slightly longer bars that slot into equivalent holes in the piece below. The issue is somewhat complicated by the fact the prisoner within is leaning on the top of the second row from the bottom with his right hand and is gripping the bars of the top row with his left. Dry-fitting is to be recommended with this section before gluing anything together as it's quite a tight fit and alignment is (in my opinion at least) somewhat critical. Additionally I have some doubts about how easily you'll be able to paint the figure in the cage if you glue it together before painting...I suppose it depends how fussy you are...Of course there's always the option of not putting the prisoner in at all...

The sword is also slightly bent on the model and on those of several other people I have spoken to. It has been pointed out by Andrew Fabian on the 'A Wyrd Place' Facebook group that this is probably due to the way the foam pushes the sprue tight against the side of the box meaning pretty much every single one of them's potentially going to have a bent sword. The usual method for resolving such issues is to heat up the part in warm water and gently bend it back into shape...results do vary however...

Here's some close-ups...

Brutal Emissary - Comparison Pictures
Here's a couple of comparison pictures between the Brutal Emissary and his smaller counterpart the Brutal Effigy as well as one by Hoffman's 'Avatar of Amalgamation' which was requested on the Wyrd Place Facebook group...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
