            This week we turn our attention back to the Necrons of the sinister Maynarkh Dynasty, with two fantastic new kits that are now available to pre-order. It’s also a weekend packed with events, too, as Forge World is in both Chicago, IL, for AdeptiCon, and London for Salute; read on to find out details of which exciting pre-releases and new kits will be available at each show.

Necron Tesseract Ark
The Tesseract Ark is one of the most powerful Necron war machines encountered on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium, and so sophisticated is its design, it can be manufactured only by the most adept of Crypteks. Built around a contained singularity torn from the heart of a dying star, in battle the Tesseract Arkcan siphon the destructive energies of this captured star-fragment and unleash them in a variety of terrible ways. The armoured bulk of the Tesseract Ark is  also surrounded by a gravitic distortion effect, a potent defensive mechanism.

The Tesseract Ark, designed by Daren Parrwood, is a complete multi-part resin and plastic kit, packed with detail. The forward armour and arcane projector array of its singularity chamber give it a unique profile, making a fantastic and menacing centrepiece for a Necron army.

Necron Sentry Pylons 
The stasis-tombs of the Necrons are vast and shadowy edifices, and many an Imperial Explorator expedition has made planetfall on a dead world only to vanish without trace; slain at the hands of the unliving guardian-constructs that watch over their slumbering masters.

Among these defences are automated weapons platforms of strange design known as Pylons. Some of these are huge, cyclopean constructs, but Imperial tactical logisticians have codified smaller, tactical variants as Sentry Pylons. These powerful devices are arcs of glittering metal equipped with a weapons array that can strike down enemy aircraft at ranges so great as to be almost beyond comprehension. Some are outfitted with a gauss exterminator array, a larger and more potent example of the hellish energy weapons carried by the Necron soldiery. This can be employed against ground targets with no loss of effectiveness, scouring vast areas clear of life and cutting buildings down to little more than smoking rubble.

The Necron Sentry Pylon with Gauss Exterminator, designed by Stuart Williamson, is a  multi-part resin kit that stands almost 6" (150mm) tall. The Sentry Pylon’s cruciform arc profile is packed with detail, making it a fantastic painting project as well as a potent battlefield unit.

Forge World Events News
Salute and AdeptiCon
Forge World’s intrepid team have crossed the Atlantic to Chicago for AdeptiCon from the 18th - 21st April, and we will also shortly be departing Forge World HQ to London for Salute which is being held on Saturday 20th April.

Our sales stands at both events will have copies of Imperial Armour Volume Twelve: The Fall of Orpheus available to buy in limited numbers, as well as the Forge World 2013 Event Only Warrior Priest and Death Korps Quartermaster models.

Our AdeptiCon stand will also have the recently-released Mechanicum Thallax Cohort, and the Legion Destroyer Squad, Legion Recon Squad and Legion Outrider Squadron, not to mention the sinister Necron Night Shroud Bomber.

At Salute, meanwhile, we will also have small quantities of our current pre-order kits: the Legion Rapier Graviton Cannon and Quad Heavy Bolter, and the new Necron Sentry Pylon.

Crew a Week Challenge (3) - Collodi - (Completed)

This one went remarkably well so I've finished a bit ahead of schedule. This is fortunate as I have some Warmachine stuff to assemble ready for some-one to teach me how to play on Sunday.....

I wanted a dirty look for the puppets but with some hints of colour to represent the fact that they were once cheerful in appearance...before...well before Collodi decided humans were a bunch of ungrateful bastards that needed all their children stealing.....

Malifaux for Beginners - Poison

Editors Note - This tutorial is for version 1.5 of the Malifaux rules and has been left available for reference only. Some Malifaux 2nd Edition Tutorials can be found here...as well as quite a few of these old ones, lol.

Several of the effects in Malifaux are represented by tokens of various kinds like Blight, Burning, Poison etc. and somewhat confusingly these all operate in slightly different ways.

Let's look at Poison...

Poison is usually associated with a weapon of some kind,

Though it may also be inflicted by other means,

When a model is hit by an attack with the Poison (#) or affected by an Ability with Poison (#) the number of tokens the target has is increased to the appropriate number (#) after the attack is resolved. If a particular Ability, Spell or whatever works differently then it will be indicated in the description.

Each time a model that has Poison Tokens attached to it begins an Activation it suffers one Wound (Wd) per Poison Token it has and then one of the Poison Tokens is discarded.

Admittedly that sounds a bit convoluted but as you'll see from the example it really isn't.

Example 1.
The Rogue Necromancy has decided to take a bite out of a passing Desperate Mercenary.

We'll presume the Rogue Necromancy (A) is successful in it's Fangs Strike against the Mercenary (B). After the attack has been resolved as normal we move on to the Poison effect.










The Rogue Necromancies Fangs are Poison (2) so we place 2 Poison Tokens (P1 and P2) next to the Desperate Mercenary (B).

On Activation the Desperate Mercenary (B) takes a Wound per Poison Token (2 in this case) and then one of the Poison Tokens (P2) is removed.













Example 2.
It's worth noting that Poison Tokens don't stack. Should a model with Poison Tokens attached be Poisoned again, then the total number of tokens is increased to the Poison number (#)...like so...

The Rogue Necromancy (A) has again attacked the Desperate Mercenary (B) and has Poisoned it again.

This is incorrect. The attack is Poison (2) but he player has added 2 additional Poison Tokens (P2 and P3) to the total (P1) on the model rather than increasing the total back to 2 (as indicated by Poison 2).











This is correct. The Fangs Strike is Poison 2 so the total number of Poison Tokens is increased back to the total of 2.












Example 3.
The Desperate Mercenary is having a particularly crappy day and is now in a fight with a Showgirl...

The Desperate Mercenary (B) is still Poisoned and is now in melee with a Showgirl (C). The Showgirl has used the 'Sirens Call' Spell to Paralyse the Desperate Mercenary in anticipation of using the particularly nasty 'Poison Gift' Action in order to inflict Poison (4) upon her which she promptly does.

The Desperate Mercenary's (B) Poison Tokens are now increased to 4 as the newest Poison attack is higher than the original one.

On it's Activation the Desperate Mercenary (B) will take 4 Wounds (One per Poison Token) and then remove one Poison Token (P4) reducing the total to 3.











To summarise then.
1) The attacked model has Poison Tokens equal to the Poison (#) number placed on it.
2) When it Activates the model takes a Wound (Wd) per Poison Token and then the number of Tokens is reduced by one.
3) Should the model be Poisoned again the number of tokens is increased to the Poison (#) number.
4) Should a subsequent Poison attack be of a lower number (#) than the number of Poison Tokens already attached then the total is unchanged...it's already the victim of a more deadly toxin...

House of Paincakes - New Article (3)

My bi-weekly House of Paincakes blog network post this time is an overview of the basic rules of Malifaux.

These link posts now obligatory Eye-Candy should (I suppose) be somehow (vaguely) themed to Malifaux. That leaves me with Steampunk, Gothic, Horror, The Wild West or the Orient as themes.

We'll go with Horror.....Here (in no particular order) are 20 of the hottest girls who have made appearances in some staples of the horror genre....and no...Kristen Stewart isn't in there, because 1) she isn't hot and 2) Twilight isn't 'Horror'...

Feel free to blame me when your girlfriend (or boyfriend depending on your preferences) peers over your shoulder while your looking at this page...
