Shades of Vengeance at UKGE

Shades of Vengeance will be attending UKGE and are bringing a lot with us! Here are a few highlights:
Survival Kickstarter Main Image
Era: Survival currently has an active Kickstarter, "Expansions into Darkness".
This Kickstarter offers multiple expansions, with the number increasing as Stretch Goals are met! It's just £10 get at least 3 (The Swarm Faction Source Book, the Infected Manual and Tales of the Outlands). These top-quality, full-colour expansions add to the Core Rulebook.
And if you don’t already have the Core Rulebook, don’t worry, there’s a chance to get hold of either that or the enhanced Definitive Edition Rulebook, which contains a number of extras which were cut from the original for length reasons!

Era: Lyres Pocket Edition, the second version of our second roleplaying game, has been entered for a UKGE Award!
In Era: Lyres, you play as people who aren’t adventurers (that’s way too dangerous!). Instead, you tell stories of your “amazing adventures” to the people of Yarnolth who, in turn, shower you with money and glory.
Hop into the nearest tavern and get going with your story with the full-colour Pocket Edition of this rulebook for just £5! It’s available from the Shades of Vengeance stand at UKGE, and the creator is around to talk about it as well!
Champion of Earth image
Last year, we brought Champion of Earth to UKGE as a prototype, and several people gave it a try.
Since then, we’ve completed the game and had a successful Kickstarter! You’ll be able to buy it from our stand for the first time at UKGE.
This year, we’ve brought some more prototypes to test out on you, so if you’re interested in finding out what we’re creating, drop by and find out!
This newsletter is sent to you by UK Games Expo on behalf of Shades of Vengeance who has sponsored and provided this content to inform you about themselves and their plans for their stand at UK Games Expo.

Unboxing Malifaux - Titania's 'The Queen Returns' Starter Box

'Time for an audience with the Queen...'

TITANIA
Titania is the Queen of the Fae and the Keeper of the Old World. She is the Storm and the Withered Rose. She is the Autumn Queen, and she is returned to this world once again.

Titania ruled the Fae in the days of ancient Malifaux. Her prosperous rule was only interrupted by the rise of the Tyrants. She led her people against the Tyrants and was instrumental in the construction their downfall. Some of her followers were filled with fear at her power and glory, and they betrayed her and locked her away for centuries.

Now she has returned to Malifaux. Her power has waned, but she is still the rightful Queen. Her name is still whispered among the Neverborn, and she has begun to gather those who are willing to pledge loyalty to her at the seat of her ancient power. The Tyrants must be defeated once again, and the vermin known as humanity must be wiped from her realm.

The 'The Queen Returns' box contains enough parts for six miniatures...namely Titania, her Totem The Gorar (3SS), Aeslin (9SS) and The Claw, The Thorn and The Tooth (7SS each). It also contains stat cards for each one and five upgrade cards four of which are for Titania and one that's for any model with the 'Fae' type.

This makes the Soulsstone value of the box...

Titania (0), The Gorar (3), Aeslin (9), The Claw, The Thorn and The Tooth (7, 7, 7) Total (33) or (36) with a maximum Soulstone cache and (41) with maximum 'out of the box' upgrades.

Sprues
The box has three sprue sets in it as well as the aforementioned cards. One of these is three linked sprues...here's both sides of them...

Stat Cards
Wyrd Games didn't like my publishing pictures of both sides of the stat cards so you'll have to make do with this...
The Gorar is on a 40mm base. Everything else is 30mm...

Lets have a look at each of these models in turn. Should there be any assembly issues with any of the models then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures or instruction pictures by clicking on them.

Instructions

Some General Notes on Assembly.
Many of these models contain quite small parts so depending on how dexterous you are you might consider getting yourself some tweezers. Dry-fitting is also always a good idea in case a part needs a tiny bit of extra filing or filling as some of the fits are quite tight. Where the parts on the sprue are quite thin (chains, weapon shafts, cables and the like) then it might be better to remove parts with a sharp scalpel rather than cutters.

Titania
The Sprue

Assembled
The bottom cloak piece alignment is tight so make sure the edges of the pieces are free of lumps. I attached the arms then the wings as the body does have alignment points for them but as the arms fit flush to the wings it may have been better to do it the other way around. I'd suggest dry-fitting the parts first and then making up your own mind...though imo putting the arms on first gives you a bit more room to manoeuvre. There's a flat section on her hand on which to place the small 'magic' piece.

Aeslin
The Sprue

Assembled
All the delicate spikes possible...everywhere...

The rear body piece needs a small piece of branch and a leg attaching and though these can be done once the part is attached you have far more room to work if you do them beforehand...in fact if you have fingers like mine then it's pretty much impossible to do so afterwards. The larger piece of branch that fits underneath aligns with one of the other existing exterior branches which helps with alignment considerably. Two tiny bits of twig attach on a branch piece that goes on the rear of the head and basically have no alignment points and a tiny surface area to attach to...unfortunately at least one of them goes between the main part and the body when the main part is attached so have to be put on beforehand...not a lot of fun but being as they're tiny twigs on a twig covered model it doesn't make much difference if you get them a bit wrong...at least one of mine is I think in the wrong place so if you're a stickler for accuracy then you have my apologies. Finally, there's a piece of branch with a flat end on the models left side that aligns with a piece of branch on the rear of the left hand.

The Gorar
The Sprue

Assembled
The central piece that sandwiches between the two main body sections only real purpose is seemingly to make the coils look complete when viewed from underneath...seems pointless really...though I may be missing something. The fangs and tongue are delicate so be careful when pressing the two halves of the head together. The head is also quite a tight fit once assembled so again be careful of the delicate pieces on the face when pushing it into place.

Autumn Knights

Sprues
The Claw has his own sprue while The Thorn and The Tooth have to share one. Here are pictures of both sides of them.

The Claw
Assembled
Other than needing to attach the head before the chest piece this model has no other issues.

The Thorn
Assembled
The 'whips' are quite thin and the meeting points aren't particularly large but do have a slight recess where they interlock so the contact point is slightly larger than appears at first glance. Not as difficult to assemble as you might think...good luck transporting it anywhere though...

The Tooth
Assembled
Hand alignment is an issue, also the bottom/underneath layer of 'skirt' is not a perfect fit but this is concealed as the join is underneath. The feathered wrist pieces don't fit snuggly so can move up and down in position by a fair amount so be sure they're where you want them before the glue goes off.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
