New teams take to the pitch!
WOW – the reception to Season 3 has been incredible!
Excitement for the new teams is at fever-pitch and we can’t help but wonder if that’s something to do with teleporting turtle dinosaurs or mischievous monkey clones. Maybe it’s more to do with slimy tentacle monsters or pesky Asterians? Regardless, here's a closer look!
Ukomo Avalanchers - they don't give a shell!
The Avalanchers haven’t been around for long, but their hard-hitting play style has already won them plenty of fans. The fact that they’re giant teleporting reptiles doesn’t hurt, either!
Kalimarin Ancients - do you like sushi?
The Nameless Confederation is home to many related species living in harmony. The Ancients reflect this in their playing style, each player working closely with his team-mates to achieve victory. We were so excited to get these minis in the office… and then came in the GIANTS for the team and my word, they are unbelievable!
Nameless Spawn - it came from the deep...

Mantic Newsletter - Dreadball Season 3
Looks like my Void Sirens might be benched in favour of a new team...or two...
|
A New Season Is About To Begin! DreadBall Season 3 is here! The first season of DreadBall brought the Galaxy’s Greatest Sport to your tabletop and a host of characterful MVPs and Teams to your painting stations. Along came Season 2, introducing new players, new rules, coaching staff and cheerleaders to the fray. Now, it’s the turn of DreadBall Season 3 – and things are getting big!
5 Giants
DreadBall Season 3 introduces massive tri-hex miniatures called GIANTS. Bought like MVPs, Giants count as two models rather than one and stomp around the battlefield creating mayhem and devastation wherever they tread/stomp/roll.Each Giant gets its own highly detailed miniature and comes supplied with a clear acrylic tri-hex base.
4 Teams
Four new teams take to the pitch with Season 3: The Nameless, Asterians, Zees and the mighty Teratons. This takes the total number of teams up to twelve, each characterful and different in their own right. Which one is your favourite? Let us know on the Mantic Facebook page!
3 MVPs
Rounding out the new entries in the Season 3 book are Mellisandra, Riller and The Praetorian – brand new characterful additions for your team, each with unique abilities and a detailed backstory.
1 DreadBall Ultimate
The Season 3 Rulebook contains the rules forDreadBall Ultimate – the DGB-branded multi-team game. Between 3-6 teams can take to the DreadBall Ultimate Arena to play ball and games are fun and frantic – particularly with two balls flying around the pitch!Getting ready for Ultimate is easy with theDreadBall Ultimate boxed set which contains a durable, non-slip rubber Ultimate Arena gaming mat, a deck of 54 Ultimate Cards, Ultimate Counters, Season 3 Rulebook and four DreadBall Giants - that’s the Big Mech, Barricade, Nameless Spawn and Alpha Simian – and yes, if you add up the contents of this set it equates to pretty much half price, so there’s no reason not to pick it up! PLUS MORE! Over the coming days and weeks we’re going to be covering Season 3 in-depth on the blog with a detailed look at all the new models, new rules and the simply bonkers DreadBall Ultimate. Stay tuned! DreadBall Season 3 is now available to pre-order and will begin shipping on the 27th September - grab your sets here! |

Weekly House of Paincakes Article (18)
My Tuesday IHoP article this week was on the dangers of allowing cliques to form in your gaming communities.
The article itself can be found here.
Wasn't sure whether to go with something Gothic or something Steampunk today. Instead I just decided to go with a variety of pics that were amongst the ones I was looking at when seeking inspiration for when my new Malifaux stuff finally bloody arrives...
Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome...they can even be on the article if you like...

The Bane Project (Part 2)
No still not this Bane...
But these less chesty but still impressive ones...they now have some under-coat...
I'll try and at least get these block coloured and washed in the next couple of days. On a slightly different note I've discovered several weaknesses in the list which I'll have to find ways to plug and hopefully I'll be able to do that without breaking the theme too badly...oh well....

Knight Models - Commissioner Gordon +SWAT Team
Bought these on a whim...decided to go with the 'Good' guys for a change...
Commissioner Gordon.
All the SWAT guys are armed slightly differently...not sure how much of a difference that makes in game till I manage to get Citizen_W from the Hobbynomicon to teach me how to play, lol. The instructions can be downloaded for free but have suffered somewhat in translation so it makes sense for me to find some-one who has already figured it out...
Talking of those SWAT guys...
They should be relatively easy to paint so it's unlikely that they'll eat into my hobby time much. I've found that having a wide variety of projects on the go from a number of different systems gives me far more motivation to get things done than it did when I just played the one system (Warhammer 40K) and most skirmish games have a relatively cheap buy in anyway. I also have the a set of the standard police on order and will most likely be purchasing the brand new ones when they become available via my FLGS...
I'm not convinced that the female officer in that one pack is genuine...she seems to have some similarities to other 'policewomen' that I've seen on the internet...
Maybe that's just me, though...
