Unboxing Malifaux - Rasputina's 'Cult of December' Starter Box Set

There's snow in the mountain passes...not to mention the occasional cannibalistic death cult.....

In the event that you're actually looking for the new plastic M2E 'Children of December' Starter Set Unboxing it can be found here.

The Box - Front and Rear.

With the unboxing articles that cover metal models I'll be taking the initial pictures without any cleaning up so you can see them 'warts and all'...

Rasputina.

Ice Golem.

Ice Gamin.

Here's them assembled and mounted onto some scenic looking 30mm (except for the Ice Golem who's on a 50mm) bases.

Rasputina - Assembled.
Her hands are separate but aren't terribly difficult to attach as long as you're using decent glue.

Ice Golem - Assembled.
Both arms are separate pieces. The joints aren't particularly well defined so you can point the arms in other directions should you wish a 'come and get it...' pose and conversions of him throwing objects should be relatively simple. I've assembled this one in the 'default' pose though.

Ice Gamin - Assembled.
These are single piece models with a supporting piece that needs removing on a couple of them which (as long as your cutters are decent) doesn't leave much that needs tidying up. There's a fair bit of flash on the models fingertips which in some instances blends very closely into the fingers so be careful what you cut off.....

For those of you who are interested here are some comparison pictures between these older metal models and the newer plastics...

Hasslefree Miniatures Newsletter - Spring Clean Sale

Sale extended...and who doesn't love a sale...

The 2014 Hasslefree Spring Clean Sale
Hey everyone.
As those of you who received the last newsletter will know we are in the middle of our 2014 Spring Clean Sale.
Unfortunately we had a website issue a couple of days ago leading to some serious downtime (A denial of service attack). We've fixed the problem but due to the downtime we are extending our Sale to Sunday the 8th June. That's an extra 4 days for you to make use of the code below :)
As you can hopefully see via the graphic above, the sale is now on for another week, until Sunday the 8th June
Enter the code above - 2014SPRINGCLEAN - into the code box on the last page of the order process before paying and get a mighty 20% off!
On top of that should your order still come to over £100 (after the discount has been applied) we will also include one of the much sought after HF goodie bags. In fact the larger your order, the larger the bag. Now might be a good time to convince your friends they really need some HF minis and to go in for one big order ;).
Backup Code
Some people have experienced an issue after cancelling their order (normally to try and add items etc) or having a problem at the payment stage like a timeout and then when they try to remake the order the code is showing as used.
With this in mid we have created a backup code - 2014SPRINGCLEAN2 - nice and simple :)
It also allows anyone who has used the code to make a second order in the sale, we have no problem with that etc.
Also if anyone sees anything as out of stock it may be worth letting us know via our FB page. We have an order in at the casters for restocks and we're allowing people to pre-order during the sale period as long as they don't mind the delay,.
Sci-Fi Squad Teaser Shot
As part of Kev's May Challenge he finished up the metal prototypes for our Sci-Fi powered armour figures, discussion is over HERE.
They'll be available as resin masters next week and as metals, hopefully, at the end of the month or thereabouts.
As well as this helmeted squad of 5 we have the, as yet unnamed, Scout prototype and her variant in Powered Armour and another upcoming unhelmeted female.
And Finally...
We'll have more teaser shots of Kev's Challenge minis in next Sunday's newseltter and they'll go on sale the following week as resin masters.
We'll start to keep you updated with regards our premises move and future plans via our FB page andhere in the newsletters.
That's it, not much time for news as you've kept us busy with packing all of your sale orders! :)
'til next time,
Arty,

Sunday Round-Up

Been a busy week this week filled with the kind of real life stuff that though important to me doesn't make for very interesting blog posts...well most of the week...

This weekend was spent at the UK Games Expo helping out the guys from Titan Games in the form of demo's, chatting about Prodos Games, Mantic Games and Wyrd Games various products and randomly ambushing passers by and convincing them to buy things they didn't previously realise they they wanted just so I have more people to play games with, lol.

During the week though, I finally got around to doing those older metal starter sets and blister unboxings I've been promising for a while. This had the dual purpose of actually getting me to start assembling my massive pile of untouched Malifaux stuff and giving me some idea of what I actually have, lol. It also gave you lot something to look at as I knew that I wouldn't really have enough time or motivation this week to write anything that could be considered an 'article'.....

The unboxing page can be found here.

I'll continue to post a couple of them a day and any newsletters that appear over the next week or so but I promise there will be some more interesting bits and pieces appearing the week after should Malifaux not be your thing.

I've also acquired a couple of the newly reconfigured Warzone Resurrection Starter Sets (Brotherhood and Cybertronic) that we'll be having a look at towards the weekend some time and I have some new bits and pieces to add to the Mantic Encyclopaedia C.o.S.I.S. around the same time.

The inexplicably popular 'Crew a Week' project has had to have a bit of a break due to the lack of certain models I want to 'complete' some crews and a general lack of certain materials but it will return as soon as I've sourced what I need. Wyrd Games delay on certain up and coming models has thrown me off track a little as well.

Though for the curious amongst you here's a couple of clues about what my next two Malifaux crews are going to be...

Unboxing Malifaux - Alternate Rasputina

There are currently three versions of Rasputina available and I like them all though this alternate version is my favourite. The new plastic version has created a bit of controversy with its more static pose but I don't see anything particularly wrong with it myself...

Should you be actually looking for the M2E Rasputina 'Starter Set' unboxing then you can find it here.

Alternate Rasputina Stat Card (1.5)
With the advent of version 2 (M2E) these 1.5 version stat cards are obsolete but they are included here for the sake of completeness.

Alternate Rasputina - Assembled.
Her hands are tiny and they're separate...and yes...they fell off several times. She's also quite top heavy* and if the base is light her balance can be a bit precarious should you mount her* on the edge of it...

*The more childish amongst you may have latched onto the phrases about mounting a top-heavy Rasputina and should be suitably ashamed of yourselves...

For those of you interested in such things here are some comparison shots between the original and the new versions of Rasputina. From left to right we have the original metal version, alternate metal version and the new plastic one...

...and here's some painted versions courtesy of my talented better half...

Unboxing Malifaux - Alternate Sonnia Criid

There are currently three versions of Sonnia Criid available though my favourite is the new plastic one...the Alternate version has a nice dynamic pose though. As is to be expected I have all three, lol.

Should you be actually looking for the M2E Sonnia Criid 'Starter Set' unboxing then you can find it here.

The sword and it's chain are a separate piece from the main body but the contact point on the wrist is tiny and the sword and chain are very bendy indeed so be careful when assembling.
