As a break from base-coating models metallic blue I decided to do a bit of assembly on some of the potential new additions to my 'Night Reapers' Chapters 2nd Company.
I decided my Tech-marines would need their own distinctive versions of the standard Rhino and this is what I came up with.
Techmarine Rhino - Top View.
I also got bored of the standard pintle-mounted Storm Bolter so decided to represent it in a slightly different way.
Techmarine Rhino - Gunner.
So the whole thing is close enough to a standard Rhino to use in games but distinctive enough to obviously belong to a specialist of some kind.
2nd Company didn't have a Venerable Dreadnought either so I treated them (well myself as well I suppose, lol) to a new addition to the 9 Dreadnoughts they already possess.
Venerable Dreadnought.
I'm still debating using one of the armoured front pieces over the top of the 'sarcophagus' section but my girlfriend prefers it like this so that's probably how it will stay ;-)
Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
I like the skeletal sarcophagus too, if that matters! It's such a different, cool look.
ReplyDeleteIt's very 'tortured soul', which I find quite appropriate for a renegade chapter that's as far gone as yours.
ReplyDeleteI've tried the various other covers on the front and even though the plain squarish one matches the rest of the models overall 'look' better I still prefer the current 'bare bones' look.
ReplyDeleteI need to get me one of those Venerables, look like so much fun to model.
ReplyDelete@ Grimnar - Its an absolutely gorgeous kit. It has enough right arms to make all 3 weapon variants that the kit comes with so you can easily interchange them, 3 choices of 'head', 4 different sarcophagus covers and a selection of cover plates for all the sections if you don't want the lettering to show (its a bit Ultramarine biased if you read the names).
ReplyDeletePlus it's currently exactly the same cost as the standard Dreadnought at my FLGS, lol.
If I'd have had the cash spare I'd have bought 2 ;-)
