Crew a Week...Sort of... - Gremlins.

Other than a few Piglets which I'm waiting bases for...this is a complete selection of anything evenly vaguely worthy of the name Gremlin...

The Masters.
Ophelia LaCroix and Som'er Teeth Jones.

The Right Hand Men.
Pere Ravage, Bert Jebsen, Rami LaCroix, Francois LaCroix, Raphael LaCroix, Lenny and Wong.

The Hired Help.
McTavish.

The Rank and File.
Bayou Gremlins.

The Specialists.
Gremlin Taxidermist, Hog Whisperer, Gremlin Warpig.

The Help.
Slop Haulers.

The Upstarts.
The Young LaCroix.

The Pets.
Giant Mosquito and Piglet.

Heavy Artillery.
The Pigapult.

As usual I've noticed a few things that need touching up now I've looked at the pictures and I may do a bit more work on those snakes on the Bayou bases but other than that we'll call these done.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. Are you going to do an article about these guys at some point or have I failed to look around enough in this corner?

    1. In version 2.0 of the Malifaux rules they're becoming a faction of their own rather than being part of the Outcasts so I'm seeing what happens before I do an article on them.

Now I have access to the Beta test stat and upgrade cards I can have a proper look ;-)

    1. I'll probably do an article on them via House of Paincakes rather than here. There's also a new Master being released for them (I have his Beta rules but no idea on appearance or background) so doing a complete series on all the Gremlin masters is currently quite tricky as it would be incomplete.

  3. Damn, GMort!

I'm starting to really admire your painting skills! These are really, really nice.

Just love the lil' Gremlin checking the barrel of his gun for blockage. You just KNOW that ain't gonna end well!
Of all the Malifaux models I've seen on these pages, these are far and away both the silliest, and most charming.
    Nice work. No-scratch that.
    EXCELLENT work, my friend!

    1. Thanks.

Everyone seems to like the Gremlins as they have a lot of character. After looking at the Beta rules for them little has changed though apparently they don't shoot each other instead when they miss a shot any-more...

There's also rules for Gremlin Master called the Brewmaster but we have no artwork for him yet.

  4. I know this post is pretty old, but would you mind walking me through how you painted the leather/coat on Som'er?

    1. It's been a while but I can make an educated guess based on my usual methods.

Initially the models would have been under-coated with Black spray followed by a second lighter layer of white to give me a head-start on shading. I then most likely used P3's 'Beast Hide' as a base colour followed by either a Strong or Dark Tone Army Painter Ink Wash (Looking at the model I think it was probably Dark Tone). I then would have highlighted using the original colour (Beast Hide) and used an off white for the very edges to add some depth for a final highlight as everything would have still been a bit dull without it.

I'm afraid that's the best I can remember...hope that helps.
