Unboxing Malifaux - Perdita's 'The Latigo Posse' Starter Set

The Neverborn have gone from the hunter...to the hunted...

The 'Latigo Posse' box contains enough parts for six miniatures...namely Perdita Ortega, her Totem Enslaved Nephilim (3SS), Francisco Ortega (8SS), Santiago Ortega (7SS), Nino Ortega (7SS) and Papa loco (7SS). It also contains stat cards for each one and eight upgrade cards, three of which are for Perdita, one is for Francisco and four can be given to any model with the 'Family' type though one of those also stipulates the 'Enforcer' type.

This makes the Soulsstone value of the box...

Perdita (0), Enslaved Nephilim (3), Francisco Ortega (8), Santiago Ortega (7), Nino Ortega (7) and Papa loco (7) Total (32) or (37) with a maximum Soulstone cache and (49) with maximum 'out of the box' upgrades.

The box has one sprue set in it which consists of six sub-assy's in it as well as the aforementioned cards...

Lets have a look at each of these in turn...should there be any assembly issues with any of the models then they will be listed in the appropriate section and you can view larger versions of the smaller pictures by clicking on them. Wyrd Miniatures also seem to have stopped putting instructions in things and instead give you a leaflet with a web address on it that leads to a number of links.

I've put them here so you don't need to. Just click on them for larger versions...

Because of the hat it's difficult to get a good picture of the whole model that shows the facial detail. I took this one with the Flash on...it's not the best picture but at least you can see her facial features in it...

The model has the usual issues that tiny models made of lots of parts do. Aligning the chain to the legs was the only awkward part for me.

Upgrades
Some of these can be given to any model with the 'Family' type but I'll put most of them here rather than duplicate them in every section.

Assembled
I thought this was going to be trickier than it turned out to be though a pair of tweezers is useful for attaching the decorative shirt section at his chest. The join between the two coat sections needs a tiny bit of hubby putty or additional filing to make a neat fit...I haven't done that yet myself...

Santiago Ortega.

Upgrades
Both Nino and Papa Loco can take this upgrade as well...not all at once though as it's 'Rare 1'.

Assembled
The only issue with this model is that the tiny skull on his belt is a separate piece...no...I'm not joking...

Stat Cards

Assembled
This model is in twelve pieces but isn't actually that bad to assemble as long as your systematic. Tweezers are a good investment if your planning on spending much time assembling Malifaux models though...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

    1. Your welcome.

Ones for McMourning and Nicodem should appear later in the week.

  2. Is it possible to keep the giant hat off and look okay? I can't tell from the picture. From the set Francisco is my least favorite model due to the oversized sombrero and sword.

I have the metal set and I plan on getting the plastic to replace Santiago, Nino and Papa Loco (being that I hate their metal versions).

Thanks for the unboxing! It's extremely helpful for all of us.

    1. There's an indentation in the hat that a 'step' in the head inserts into.

If you wished to avoid using the hat you'd have to sculpt some hair onto the model. The other issue is that the straps for the hat are moulded onto the head already so they'd need removing and hair re-sculpting around them. It's not something I'd want to try myself. Perhaps you could find a hat from some other model and use that instead but other than that it's not an easy project I'm afraid.

  3. You could try getting alternate hats from the Hats and Guns of Malifaux blister. I also hate Francisco's new hat, which always make me think "Nachos!" whenever I see it, LOL.
