Unboxing Malifaux - Governors Proxy

Sometimes the Governor is just too busy...or lazy to do a job himself...of course Malifaux residents who make too many negative comments about the Governor have a tendency to disappear during the night...

'Small Box' Cover.

The Governors Proxy box contains enough parts for one miniature...namely the Governors Proxy. It also contains a stat card for him though there are no upgrade cards.

Here are the official assembly instructions should you have trouble locating them.

Governors Proxy - Assembled.
Well this model has a precariously balanced feather, a tiny belt item and a three piece groin plate...after that lot the separate hands and feet will seem like a holiday...

There are four areas that are worth a closer look at that are shown in the next few pictures. Firstly the feather/quill has an extremely small contact area on the hand though there is a small indentation for it to rest in this takes some patience and you'll need to wait till the adhesive has gone off fully or it tends to lean at an odd angle. Second and third are a quite substantial mould line in the centre of the chest mounted book and a tiny ink bottle on the belt that will require smoothing out and carefully attaching respectively...I'm leaving the best till last...

The groin plate is in three separate pieces. You could assemble this independently before attachment as the instructions seem to suggest suggest though personally I attached the ribbon section to the body first, then attached the horns and finally put the skull on last which in my opinion is better simply because you have a surface to work on.

Here's a comparison picture of both the older metal and the newer plastic version. As you can see the newer version is much larger as it's still higher than the metal one in the comparison picture even though the original has the benefit of being stood on a rock...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. This feather is just not going to work if you plan to transport the mini. Other than that, I really like it. I already have a pewter version but might get this one just for fun.

  2. That feather is going to be problematic for transport... Other than that it's a very nice miniature and I think I might end up getting one (even though I already have the pewter version)

    1. The feather isn't as delicate as it first appears once it's attached...it's still a bit scary though, lol.
