Mantic Games Open Day

As is to be expected I headed off to the Mantic Open Day today with my family in tow in order to collect my lucky bag...and perhaps have a look around while I was there.....

Editors Note - This post is very, VERY picture heavy...you have been warned, lol.

They're were plenty of demo games going on as well as a Loka tournament and a massive Kings of War participation game...

The Mars Attacks demo was particularly popular...

The game itself played very smoothly. It was basically the same as Deadzone only far more faced paced and brutal. I can only imagine that this becomes even more true when you add in the massive amount of other units available in the final game. There are also going to be card sets available to use your Mars Attacks models in Deadzone...Plague Vs. Martians?..sounds good to me...

I was briefly distracted by the pile of 'Project Pandora' games at the bargain price of ten pounds...I bought two. The shelf was restocked twice during the day and the shop itself was very busy partially due to a £5 off voucher in the lucky bags. It didn't include things already on offer but then again you can't have everything, lol.

Then Mars Attacks recaptured my attention as there were a lot of painted models from that game in the cabinets...here they are in no particular order...

There was also a gigantic game of Kings of War going on that got bigger and bigger as the day progressed and more people bought units of their own to get involved...

Though somewhat distracted by the Mars Attacks models from earlier I did also spy some interesting Dreadball Xtreme bits and pieces...

...and some Deadzone ones...

As I'm expecting six of those Striders it was nice to see that they're as awesome as the 3D computer designs had led me to expect. There were also several cabinets of various painted Mantic models in one of the rooms but I'm afraid my camera is inadequate to do them justice...however here they are anyway...

There was also a brilliant example of what can be achieved with their terrain sets especially when you add in the new 'ruined' sections...

The studio modellers and designers were there and their cabinets had some interesting pieces of work in them. As I don't know the entire Mantic model range off by heart I've no idea if some of these are brand new or years old...so here's pictures of all of them...you can sort through them yourself...

The computer in the same room's screensaver threw up a lot of random pictures...some of which may be new to you...a few were certainly new to me at least...

All in all it was another great day and the seminar was the usual mix of news and Ronnie getting really excited about everything. Apparently there's going to be a skirmish level version of Kings of War at some point and some people got to see the giant stompy Mars Attacks robot but were forbidden to take pictures of it. Well organised and a load of fun...hopefully there's something in that lot you'll find of interest...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

    1. Some of them I think are heroes for Kings of War or may be for a Skirmish level version of it (think Deadzone but fantasy) that was hinted at in the seminars.

    1. It was a great deal of fun and well organised. Having a room for the kids to paint in was a brilliant idea as it gave the parents a chance to have demo's and see the seminars relatively uninterrupted. I'm already looking forward to next year...
