Unboxing Malifaux - Snow Storm

Not all Silent Ones are quite the same...some have a little help...

Small Box Cover.

Snow Storm - Unassembled.
Effectively this is two models, a special Silent One and a gigantic creature from the mountains that work together as 'Snow Storm'. I've seen the creature used alone as Snow Storm with the female figure used as anything from a Silent One to an alternate for Rasputina...I'm not saying I'd do that myself (I haven't) but I thought it worth mentioning...

Snow Storm Stat Card (1.5)
With the advent of version 2 (M2E) these 1.5 version stat cards are obsolete but they are included here for the sake of completeness.

Snow Storm - Assembled.
There's a few small pieces of resin that need cutting away but these are obvious from their location and lack of texture. The separate arms on the creature weren't the greatest fit though they weren't exactly terrible either and you can probably see the slight gap on the assembled pictures below that will require a bit of filling before I under-coat. Also the location points for the antlers could have done with being a bit deeper but other than those very minor issues it was a relatively simple assembly job. The antlers can be put on at virtually any angle you wish...

The Silent One has separate hands but the rest is a single piece. The area where the hands meet the body (on both the main body and the hands) needs to be carefully tidied up as with such a small contact point you'll have gaps or they'll be oddly angled otherwise. This model also has a piece on the bottom that would normally go into a slotted base which I had to remove...I'm not sure why it's needed if the model is meant to go on the 50mm base with the creature though I suppose it's useful if you're using it for something else as I mentioned as a possibility earlier...

When I assembled mine I placed the Silent One slightly off to one side as I preferred the way it looks but there's plenty of room on the base for a variety of looks.

...and some close-ups...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

  1. I just picked up this box as well. I can't wait to build it and paint it. Such a good looking mini.

    1. I was very impressed with it. I'm sure it will make a great centre-piece in my Rasputina crew.
