Growing up as a Nomad of the Aldecaldos clan, Avery soon learned that he had zero interest in the lifestyle embraced by his clanmates. He did however have a talent for making deals and talking his way out of trouble, both of which served the Aldecaldos well when it was time to negotiate the fees for their logistic operations and also when selling excess items that fell into their hands during the job. His tasks for the clan earned him the nickname ‘Slick’ Hicks, which he hated and still does.

It was during a deal for the second tier corporation Budget Arms, smuggling weapons components, that Avery came to the attention of one of their head-hunters after negotiating a deal so favourable that Budget Arms actually made less from the job than the Aldecaldos did. The salesman on the receiving end of this shafting found himself both unemployed and deceased within the week. Avery was offered the vacant position before the body was even cold. He accepted the job with little prompting and left the life of a Nomad behind.

Well, mostly. Sometimes when he needs a skilled driver, an untraceable vehicle or a bodyguard he contacts those few clan members still willing to deal with one who abandoned them in favour of a nice apartment and a decent suit. Nomads are, after all, pragmatists at heart so a surprising number of them are willing to overlook this transgression against the family.

Avery's Personal Armoury
It didn’t take Avery very long to become the top salesman and negotiator for the Night City branch of Budget Arms. He is also sometimes called upon by his immediate superior to resolve issues of a less legitimate nature. As Avery is constantly living beyond his means he is always willing to take on extra work, whether it be official or not. He now has his sights on the next job up the corporate ladder and is extremely flexible about how that can be achieved.

Avery carries a number of concealed one-handed pistols and similar weapons, many of which have been customised by Budget Arms technicians to his personal specification. If discovered he generally refers to these as ‘demonstration models’ that he’d ‘forgotten about’, you’d be surprised how often this is believed.

Additional Background
Avery’s parents, Spencer and Meredith Hicks, were couriers for the Aldecaldos clan. Primarily they passed messages, information on new contracts and the occasional small but high value package between those of the clan based outside Night City and those further along the Nomad Trail all the way to the twin Crime Cities of Chicago and Phoenix. He and his sister Alexi learned negotiating skills from their mother, while their father taught them both how to shoot. Given the dangers inherent to long distance travel in the time of Red, their parents often left them with other families while they worked and it was rare for him to spend any significant time with his real family. When he eventually left the Aldecaldos to join a corporation, his parents were disappointed but not entirely surprised.

Meredith Hicks: Nomad, Fixer - Alexi Hicks: Nomad, Solo

Spencer Hicks was killed several years ago in a shoot-out with a gang of hijackers attempting to liberate the Hicks family of a particularly valuable cargo. Though he and his wife fought them off, Spencer later succumbed to his wounds being far too far from the nearest medical facility for any help to be obtained. Spencer’s funeral was the last time Avery had any contact with his two surviving relatives. His mother Meredith still continues in her previous role as transporter and negotiator but she and Avery haven’t exchanged a word for at least three years. He and his sister haven’t spoken since he joined Budget Arms.

With his renewed contact with the clan due to recent business dealings it seems inevitable that a reunion is on the cards. Avery isn’t looking forward to it at all as his parting conversation with them didn’t go particularly well. Both his parent’s and his sister believed that he was “selling his soul” to the corps, while Avery is convinced that his family have wasted their talents by adopting a lifestyle with no future at all, and had told them so in no uncertain terms.

Exec Crew Members
Just like a real corporate executive, the Exec builds a team whose members help them accomplish their goals, whether legal or not, morale permitting.

Jasmine - Company Netrunner, Lizza - Company Technician

Jasmine
Int: 6, Ref: 7, Dex: 8, Tech: 7, Cool: 5, Will: 4, Move: 5, Body: 5, Emp: 3
Lizza
Int: 7, Ref: 8, Dex: 5, Tech: 8, Cool: 6, Will: 3, Move: 3, Body: 5, Emp: 5

Avery's uses his team members sparingly, preferring to employ crew members who can assist him in a supporting role rather than as active combatants. Whether this is because he genuinely cares for their safety or that their replacement would cost him money is open to debate.

Avery's Vehicles
Militech 'Goliath', Class 6 Armoured Container Truck
Usually utilized as delivery vehicles, these container trucks are the largest vehicles that can safely travel along most of Night City’s unrepaired roads. They are lightly armoured in order to protect themselves from hijackers and are mostly used by businesses and corporations.

This particular vehicle has been gradually converted and upgraded by Avery for 'The Outfit' to use as a mobile command centre and observation post.

Quadra '45, High Performance Car
CHOOH² powered sportscar. The big-brother of the common car, this is monster can haul at twice the speed. Most commonly referred to as “sports cars”, they are frequently used by Nomads & Gangs in Night City.

Acquired from a mafia hit squad after their unfortunate deaths and the security system was successfully bypassed. After a respray courtesy of the Aldecaldos Nomads the vehicle now belongs to 'The Outfit'. Though it spends the majority of it's time in Avery's parking space, Holliday occasionally utilises it for an off the books high speed delivery. Though the mafia are now aware of 'The Outfit's involvement in it's theft, Avery has negotiated it's semi-permanent loan in return for some 'favours', and their successful completion has made the vehicle effectively his.

Zetatech Herakles, AV4 Multipurpose Aerodyne
The Zetatech Herakles is a workhouse of an aerodyne designed specifically for the defence market. Perfect for both troop transport and crowd control, the Herakles has proven popular with private security providers and C-SWAT teams alike.

Not generally available on the civilian market, the Herakles is armoured, armed, and ready to unleash hell on the ground below in order to clear the landing zone or provide overwatch to friendlies in the field.

This particular vehicle once belonged to the mercenary known as 'The Widow' and Avery had it rebuilt from the remnants of it's wreckage as a trophy of The Outfit's victory. It currently has pride of place on the helipad of his penthouse apartment.

'Holliday'
Rank 6 Nomad, Rank 5 Solo

Holliday’s early years were spent living the life of a reclaimer, he and his family had moved into one of the old towns in the Badlands past the outskirts of Night City. Life was hard but fulfilling and though he was only young Holliday would help his father and older brother complete chores around the settlement and conduct repairs to buildings and machinery.

This life was to come crashing down the day that a Raffen Shiv gang rolled through the settlement, Holliday’s father had been on watch. Whilst he managed to raise the alarm Holliday is unaware of the final fate of his father, in the aftermath his body was never found. The reclaimers rallied to the defence of their town, but were of little match to the well-armed Raffen’s. At the height of the battle Holliday and his mother were being protected by his older brother, a pre-caseless handgun his only weapon. The Raffen closed in, and their leader appeared from their ranks cruelly scything down Holliday’s brother with a hail of assault rifle fire.

Holliday's Personal Armoury
Holliday and his mother would surely have been killed if not for the timely arrival of the Aldecaldos passing through on a cargo transport run. Unaware of the scant survivors, the Aldecaldos engaged the Raffen and pushed them back. As the Raffen leader fell back to his vehicle Holliday snatched up his brother’s handgun and fired, his shot going wide of the mark. Since that day Holliday has carried his brother’s handgun and maintained it with the promise that when he ever encounters that Raffen again, he will kill him with his brother’s gun.

Holliday, his mother and the remaining survivors were adopted into the Nomad pack. In time Holliday proved to be a skilled driver and an adept mechanic. However, due to his early experiences he truly excelled in the role of an Outrider often taking on this task with his childhood friend Abenthy – described as being the more calm-headed of the pair.

Holliday tends to be neutral to most people, however once he sees someone as a friend, or family he is fiercely protective of them preferring to solve all problems with an aggressive nature and a mean right hook. His desire to protect people valuable to him can bring out a viciousness in him, his enemies don’t make the same mistake twice.

Holliday's Vehicles
Thorton Mackinaw Larimore, Groundcar
CHOOH² powered car.  The common 4 door sedan sports average safety features and amenities, but no bells & whistles. In Night City, this is the most common form of transportation and can be easily obtained.

Holliday's vehicle and home in theory is on loan to him by his clan but to all intents and purposes is his.

SDP - 50 (70), Seats - 4, Speed - 161 KPH/100 MPH/20 Move, Value - 30,000eb

Upgrades
Armoured Chassis (AP13), Bulletproof Glass (Thin, 15HP), Combat Plow, Heavy Chassis (+20 SDP), Housing Capacity.

Brennan 'Apollo', Roadbike
Common CHOOH² powered bike. The standard motorcycle in Red is virtually identical to its 600cc counterpart in the century before. With better handling, speed and range than a scooter, it comes at a major price difference.

This particular vehicle was acquired from a Raffen Shiv after their violent death by Holliday's own hand. Though damaged in the battle, Holliday is currently repairing it for his own use. Unlike his Kombi, this vehicle belongs to him rather than to his clan. Unfortunately this also means he needs to repair and upgrade it himself.

SDP - 35, Seats - 2, Speed - 161 KPH/100 MPH/20 Move, Value - 20,000eb

Upgrades
NOS (Currently inoperative)

'Klink'
Rank 6 Medtech
Int: 7, Ref: 8, Dex: 5, Tech: 8, Cool: 4, Will: 5, Luck: 7, Move: 6, Body: 5, Emp: 7(**4)
**Reduced by Cyberware
Klink's origins are somewhat of a mystery as he rarely talks about his past in any detail.

It's known that he resides in the area of Night City referred to as 'Little Europe', though his clinic is in The Glen, right opposite Budget Arms's Headquarters. It is Budget Arms that provides him the bulk of the casual work that covers his day to day expenses.

In order to fund his other hobbies, he works with the Nomad, Holliday and the Exec, Avery providing medical support. This takes the form of patching up injuries and 'reclaiming' cyberware from those who no longer require it. Usually because they are recently deceased, most often at the The Outfit's own hand.
