Crew a Week Project - M2E Von Schill - Part 1

Regular readers of the blog will be aware that the 'Crew a Week' concept was an attempt to motivate myself to get off my arse and paint some Malifaux models...

I tend to accumulate models at about ten times the rate that I actually paint them...

The format was that I'd select a starter set crew (and some weeks if I felt confident that I had a bit more time I'd add a few models to it as well) and then I'd attempt to paint the whole thing in a week period. Generally I'd get the crew assembled Monday, ignore it till about Sunday and then power through it in a day...with varying degrees of success. More often than not I'd use a crew that I'd already done an un-boxing article on which meant I could skip the assembly part of the process and save a bit of time.

As you can see from the first couple of pictures in this article I'm now horrendously behind again (and those aren't even all of them...) so I've decided to bring the project back starting with Von Schills M2E Crew...

...hopefully the two versions of the armoured Librarian...

...and possibly the Pathfinder and his Clockwork Traps that I've put together today...

Of course this does somewhat depend on whether work decides to add twenty hours of overtime to my week like it did last week, lol.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

Crew a Week Project - Rasputinas Cult of December - Part 1

This one is actually going to take more than a week but as it's technically two crews I'd have two weeks to do it anyway...However I'm not going to rush this one. If it takes longer then it takes longer...

For those of you who don't read background stories (shame on you...) Rasputina has finally embraced the whole 'eating people' part of the cult of December and rather than just paint the crew in wintry colours I decided I was going to add a bit of blood and guts as well.

Time for an inspiring picture...

...sorry if you were expecting an attractive lady splattered in blood but I did that yesterday...

The models I'll be using have all been based in the same manner and should once painted give a decent look of a mountainous environment. My partner also has a significant quantity of snow related basing material from when she did her own Rasputina crew so that part of the project should be fairly simple.

This is my starting point. Regular viewers of the blog will probably recognise some of these models from their respective unboxing projects. As I'm painting everything together there are a few models that despite me having multiples of I wont be able to use all of them in the same game but they'll look good together anyway, lol. I also have two Blessed of December for no apparent reason.....

I've decided to use the new plastic Wendigo without the 'victim' so it's not based yet due to me needing to create a hand and foot for it. I also need to source some body parts for the bases and for the scheme markers as well as for the 'Ice Pillars' when I work out how I'm going to create those. I'm thinking of making them loook like some kind of sacrificial post together with chains and a victim or two...time will tell how practical that's going to be though...

The aforementioned 'body parts' will be provided by the left over parts from my Mantic Games Zombies, Ghouls and Skeletons that were left over from my (admittedly only half finished) Kings of War undead army. As you can see from the following few pictures there's plenty of suitable bits and pieces to act as both bits of new victims and the remains of some older ones...

So that's what I'll be up to for the next couple of weeks...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

Crew a Week Project - Sonnia Criids 'The Torch and the Blade'

As I've been using various versions of this crew in most of my games over the last few months it was kind of embarrassing that I was using older models or unpainted ones in most of those games...time to do something about that...

I also had an alternate Sonnia Criid so I did her at the same time...

M2E Sonnia Criid and Alternate Sonnia Criid.
I'm happy with the flame effects on these...the hair looks terrible though...I'll need to redo that at some point...

 Purifying Flame.
I'm happy with the way the flames turned out but I'm thinking that the bone parts might have looked better if I'd done them a different colour. I was going with a 'made completely of fire' look but I'm not sure about it now...

Samael Hopkins.
Here's a picture of both versions but I only painted one as part of this project as the other was already done some time ago...

This is a lovely model...I can almost forgive Wyrd for the trillion bits it comes in...

Witchling Handler and Witchling Stalkers.
There are three of my original metal ones in this picture as well.

Witchling Handler.

Witchling Stalkers.
As I was effectively using several of the same model twice I thought some minor conversions were in order. One simply had the swords pointed down rather than up and the other pair had a hand swap.
