Unboxing Guild Ball - Butcher's Guild

Steamforged Games Kickstarter 'Guild Ball' has landed on most pledges doorsteps now and is also available to buy from a number of locations. I'll be getting the few models I'm missing from the Guilds that I was too poor to buy at the Kickstarter stage from my friendly local game store Titan Games.

Most Guilds consist of six or seven available models with the starter sets containing three to get you up and running. A standard 'small' game involves three models (a 'Captain' and two others) with the larger game being six (a Captain, a mascot and four others). There are also a number of models who can act as 'Mercenaries' though some of these only work for particular Guilds. The aforementioned mercenaries will get there own post after I've covered all the more traditional guilds.

The Butchers's Guild.
You're just meat to them … weak, tender, soft meat. And they're the Butchers.
- Greyscales, Vice-Captain, Fisherman's Guild

Butchers’ play style has been designed to be quite straightforward. They are masters of the mid to late game. They excel at damage output and generate a lot of momentum through combat and damage effects. They provide each other with a good assortment of buffs and debuffs in order to allow combo play. Butchers mainly focus on raw damage. That’s not to say that they don’t have some surprises up their sleeves - characters like Shank and Boiler can pop up and surprise you with their goal threats if you’re not careful …

--------------------

The Kickstarter deals for teams were generally six of the seven available models for the Guild so these features won't all be quite complete...though this one is... Some of the Kickstarter teams also included an alternate version of certain models so where the model is an alternate sculpt I'll point it out.

Should you be looking at purchasing a starter set then the one for the Butcher's Guild contains Ox, Brisket and Boiler. The Kickstarter models don't come with a box so here's an 'official' picture from the website of the starter set contents.

Each model comes with a stat card and the starter set comes with a ball as well. Here are the stat card pictures for the seven models that I currently possess. If your fortunate enough to have had a demo of this game you may notice that there's some slight differences between the demo cards rules for some of the Butcher's Guild models and the full game ones, none of these are major though.

Stat Cards.

The models themselves are multi-part though obviously some have more parts than others and there's a couple that require no assembly at all. Here they are unassembled...

Ox (Captain) and Princess (Mascot)
This is the alternate Kickstarter version of the captain. I'll add a picture of the original one if I acquire it in the future.

Boar, Boiler, Brisket, Meathook and Shank.

The Ball.
I know you probably don't care about this but I'm a bit of a completest, lol.

These are them assembled. They are based on the resin bases that were part of my Kickstarter pledge. The detail on these models is excellent and in order to show them to their full potential I've taken front, rear and side views.

Forge World Newsletter #455

Well that's bloody amazing...

...the Lord Marshal and pals are okay as well I suppose....

A Daemon Prince of the Ruinstorm, spreading madness and slaughtering all before him in baleful frenzy, Samus is here! A hulking monstrosity, towering over mortals, Samus, a daemon of murder made manifest, was incarnated at the height of his powers as the walls between reality and the Warp were stretched thin by the Word Bearers’ dark rites at Calth. If his corporeal flesh was destroyed, he would soon return again to wreak havoc and claim more souls for the powers of Chaos, the sound of his name echoing through the Warp and in the minds of men.Samus, Daemon Prince of the Ruinstorm is the latest model in the Horus Heresy Character Series. Presented in a collectors edition black box, Samus can be built with his right hand clutching a dismembered Space Marine or as an open claw. Samus can be used in Word Bearers Legion armies and Codex: Chaos Daemon armies in Horus Heresy games. He can also be used in Codex: Chaos Daemons and Khorne Daemonkin armies in standard games of Warhammer 40,000. Experimental rules can be downloaded HERE.

This is a complete, multi-part resin kit. It is available to pre-order today and will be despatched from Friday 8th May.
“Samus. That's the only name you'll hear. Samus. It means the end and the death. Samus. I am Samus. Samus is all around you. Samus is the man beside you. Samus will gnaw on your bones. Look out! Samus is here.”

The Lord Marshal of a Solar Auxilia battlegroup is the supreme commander of his forces. He may have the total respect of his men or be a despot of the highest order, but he will be a master strategist, fearsome duellist and an experienced frontline commander prepared to sacrifice his forces in defence of the Imperium.
Auxilia Tactical Command Sections facilitate the flow of orders from central command, directing the movement of thousands of men and vehicles, as well as coordinating devastating aerial and orbital strikes upon a foe. The Proclaimator’s communications equipment links the section to the battlegroup’s command and control structure, allowing the Strategos to issue orders efficiently and directly to the units under his purview. The Vexilarius carries the cohort’s standard, a great honour usually only bestowed upon a warrior who has performed an act of bravery or feat of arms, whilst the Veteran Auxilia defend the section itself from advancing enemy.
The Solar Auxilia Tactical Command comprises six models including a Lord Marshal armed with a paragon blade and archaeotech pistol, and a full Auxilia Tactical Command Section consisting of a Strategos, Proclaimator, Vexilarius, a Veteran Auxiliary with meltagun and Veteran Auxiliary with grenade launcher. Also included are optional helmeted and unhelmeted heads for both the Lord Marshal and Strategos.
The Lord Marshal and Auxilia Tactical Command Section can be fielded as two separate units in Solar Auxilia armies in Horus Heresy games. Their rules can be found in The Horus Heresy Book Four – Conquest.
“I care not if my troops consider me a tyrant or a saint; I care only that they obey my orders.”

Lone Wolf Development Newsletter

It's been a while since I used Army Builder, Hero Lab and the like.

Are there any happy users out there or should I stick with a pen and paper?

May 2015 Newsletter

(If you don't see the graphics and text below, click here to view this newsletter on the web.)

Yes, you’re reading that correctly – this is the May newsletter. While we love the month of April, we’ve decided to rename our newsletters to reflect the upcoming month, not the month that just passed. (We still love you, April.)

This past month has been a busy one for Hero Lab, with the release of the Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Editionpackage, Pathfinder Unchained, and our new Pathfinder RPG 2015 Bundle. We also have some news about cloud service for our Realm Works users. For info on these updates and additional news this month, check out more below!
Please note: You're receiving this email because you purchased one of our products or signed up on our website. If you decide this newsletter isn't for you, please use the "Opt-out" link at the bottom of this email and not the "Junk" setting in your email program.

Realm Works – Important News About Cloud Service

Five months ago, Realm Works Player Edition was released and we announced that the free six months cloud service had started for users with Realm GM Edition purchased prior to that date. Thousands of GMs have used the cloud service to streamline their games, with many sharing their worlds and stories with players through Realm Works Player Edition. Many more are looking forward to expanding their worlds with published and community content from the upcoming Content Market!

For thousands of users, the free six months of cloud service is currently set to expire on May, 17th, and the majority of those users will be faced with choosing to continue their service before being able to leverage published material through the Content Market. With this in mind, we’ve chosen to suspend the expiration and allow cloud service to continue for all users. All users with cloud service, regardless of purchase date, will continue to receive cloud service until some point after the Content Market launch. Users will have the opportunity to see what’s possible with the Content Market and cloud service combined. Since the exact timing for this remains fluid, we’ll provide users with at least one month’s notice before the extra free cloud service concludes.

We know that many Realm Works users are waiting anxiously for the Content Market, and we’re looking forward to delivering some amazing material, like Frog God Game’s “Razor Coast” and “Pirate’s Guide to Freeport” from Green Ronin Publishing. As we approach the release, more and more users have been asking questions about cloud service and the Content Market. We’ve compiled a number of those frequently asked questions, and have answered them on our FAQ webpage. Before launching the Content Market to the public, we’ll also share additional information about what to expect in the initial launch.

Stay tuned for more information about the Realm Works Content Market. For all the latest Realm Works news, be sure to “like” Realm Works on Facebook, follow @lonewolfdevel on Twitter, and follow Lone Wolf Development onGoogle+.

Rise of the Runelords Now Available for Hero Lab!

The Rise of the Runelords Encounter List

The fearsome Skinsaw Man, pre-built in Hero Lab and ready for battle!
In early April, we announced the upcoming release of a new Adventure Path package for Hero Lab: Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition. In the award-winning Rise of the Runelords, players work together to stop the evil threatening the town of Sandpoint, battling classic foes like goblins and ogres as they advance their characters from 1st to 15th level! Hero Lab already includes player content from each Adventure Path for free, including Rise of the Runelords, and now GMs have all of the encounter essentials at their disposal!

With Rise of the Runelords for Hero Lab, you can access all of the encounters from this Adventure Path, pre-built and ready for battle. Every encounter is available with just a click of the mouse, including spells, weapons, and special abilities already selected for NPCs. You can import each encounter for immediate use at the game table, and even use Hero Lab’s integrated Tactical Console to manage your combats!

Unlike the published Adventure Path, Hero Lab also provides GMs with all of the monster stats, such as Goblins and Zombies, without the hassle of flipping through your Bestiary book or PDF. Best of all, for any encounter using material from a Pathfinder supplement (like the Advanced Players Guide or the Bestiary), that material will automatically be available for you to use within the Adventure Path! For example, if you don’t own the Bestiary package for Hero Lab – don’t worry! You can still use the Skinsaw Man, a deadly Ghast, in an encounter, view all of his Ghast-specific attacks and abilities, or even print out a character sheet to reference at the game table.

Manage all of the ‘Rise of the Runelords’ encounters in the built-in Hero Lab Tactical Console!

Get "Rise of the Runelords" for Hero Lab Today!

Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition is available to buy now for only $24.99! With over 200 encounters across the 434-page adventure included in your purchase, that’s just 12¢ each – a bargain for any busy GM.
