Some 2017 DreadBall news from Mantic Games...

New Year, New Game: DreadBall in 2017 When we launched DreadBall back in 2012, it quickly became a firm favourite among tabletop gamers. Thanks to its super fast gameplay, simple rules and teams that were full of character, DreadBall was a great introduction to miniature gaming and Mantic products in general. Then with the launch of DreadBall Xtreme in 2015, we looked at the dirty underbelly of DreadBall. This was a fantastic introduction to the Warpath Universe before people jumped into the more complex worlds of Deadzone or Warpath. It also introduced even more teams to the original DreadBall, taking the count to more than 20. However, over time it became clear that those teams released in season six were at a significant advantage over the teams released at the beginning, thanks to improved abilities and different stats. So earlier this year we launched the DreadBall 2 Kickstarter to fund a brand new version of the greatest game in the galaxy, with improved rules, more balanced stats and expanded rules for league play. DreadBall 2 will be launched at retail in late 2017 and we’re excited to see the new teams hitting the pitch. We’ll be keeping you updated throughout 2017 with more details about the launch and when pledges will be sent to Kickstarter backers… so stay tuned! DreadBall 2 Playtesting The great thing is that, although DreadBall 2 is officially launching next year, we’ve already started playtesting the new teams, new rules and new stats. You can download the latest playtest packet NOW and start playing at home with the updated rules. The feedback so far has been great and the gameplay experience is far more balanced for the various teams. If there’s a team you like you look of in the playtest document, you can still pick them up from the Mantic store. Plus, we’ve currently reduced the price of the Gruba-tek VII Coliseum Deluxe DreadBall Pitch so you can play your games in style. DreadBall Xtreme While we’re busy fine tuning the rules for DreadBall 2, if you still fancy taking to the pitch to flex your strike-scoring muscles or just fancy slamming some hapless opponents, then we’re pleased to report that we've got a special Dreadball Xtreme bundle available on the website. A look at Mantic Games Deadzone for 2017...

New Year, New Game: Deadzone in 2017 In May this year we officially launched the second edition of our sci-fi skirmish game, Deadzone. The idea behind the second edition was simple – we already had a great range of miniatures but the gameplay needed to be streamlined to make it more accessible, faster and, most importantly, more fun! If you’ve played the second edition then you’ll hopefully agree that we’ve achieved all those three things. If you haven’t played the second edition, then we’re pleased to announce that you can currently pick up the hardback rulebook for half price, which means you can give it a go at home! Oh, and if you need a new Deadzone mat, the Exham IV Deluxe Gaming Mat is currently half price too! But what does 2017 and beyond hold for Deadzone? GCPS Faction In 2017 we’ll be releasing brand new GCPS units as part of the wider Warpath launch. You’ll be able to pick up new, highly detailed, hard plastic GCPS troops with various weapon options. So, it seemed only right that the GCPS should get their own faction in Deadzone too. This means that in the summer, we’ll be releasing a GCPS Faction Starter and Faction Booster containing everything you need to get your troops on the table. In fact, earlier this year we released the beta rules for the GCPS faction, to ensure the Deadzone community can test them to destruction before release! If you’ve got some existing GCPS troops or you’re one of the lucky Warpath Kickstarter backers, then you can use the beta rules and take them for a test drive right now! Nameless Faction If you followed the Star Saga Kickstarter, you’ll know that during the campaign we funded new, pre-assembled, plastic Nameless miniatures. The Nameless have always been one of the most popular teams in Dreadball, while the enigmatic Project Oberon has remained a firm favourite in Deadzone. For Star Saga we’ll be producing a number of new Nameless minions, alongside some big bosses. Just like we’ve recently done with the GCPS beta lists, we’ll be working with the Deadzone Rules Committee to produce a list for a Nameless Deadzone faction. The exact date is TBA but we’ll keep you updated throughout 2017. Plus, if you missed out on the Star Saga Kickstarter, late pledges will be available in early 2017, so you can pick up some Nameless miniatures in preparation for your Deadzone faction.

Insider 12-21-2016: Errata, Community Integrated Development and More

Dear Players of WARMACHINE & HORDES, Today we are publishing the highly anticipated WARMACHINE & HORDES errata document, along with several announcements concerning some progressive and exciting innovations to the way in which we develop and publish these games. While we are not pleased with ourselves over the necessity to readdress rules so soon after their original publication, the effort to correct our mistakes has illuminated the need for a different approach to the way in which we collect and analyze data as well as how we communicate changes in the rules to the players of WARMACHINE & HORDES. Some of these modifications to our process have been looming on the horizon, though we had expected to take more time to implement them. But over the past three months, we have come to the conclusion that there is no time like the present to adapt and evolve.
