Chaosium Inc. Newsletter

Some Kickstarter and Cthulhu news from Chaosium...

#39 the straight scoop from the well of chaos...

Chaosium's KHAN OF KHANS is live now on Kickstarter, and is already over 250% funded!

The Sanskrit word for war literally means "a desire for more cows"...

That's the aim of Chaosium's new family game, KHAN OF KHANS by German boardgame design legend Reiner Knizia—"raid your enemies, win cows and the game!"
The game brings together two of the most accomplished and legendary figures in gaming industry: world-renowned game designer Dr Reiner Knizia and "the grand shaman of games" himself, Greg Stafford.
The Kickstarter campaign runs for another 10 days, until January 31st. The base backer level is only USD$20.00 and for that get you the full game!

We've assembled a great horde and are thundering through the Stretch Goals—please come join us!

Check out KHAN OF KHANS with our FREE Print & Play, with rules available in English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish!

More of What People Are Saying About KHAN OF KHANS...

"Yay! Trust me, all your kids, adults, and cultists will love this!"
Stephanie McLeay - games designer and publisher (Stygian Fox Publishing)

"This humble journalist had the chance to play the game at Gen Con, and I can tell you the gameplay is quick, simple, and enjoyable. It’s a game that children and adults could play together at family gatherings or after dinner, and everyone can have a good time. Despite its simplicity and ease of play, the game still requires thinking and planning when it is most advantageous to play cards. When I played, Vampire: The Masquerade creator Mark Rein-Hagen stole all my cows and won the game, but I assume the game will be just as fun even if you’re not playing with gaming royalty."

"We’re backing it on day 1!"

THE STAR ON THE SHORE: a Call of Cthulhu Module

Our friends Dark Cult Games are Kickstarting a new licensed Call of Cthulhu module, THE STAR ON THE SHORE. A classic 1920s adventure, The Star on the Shore is designed for new players and veterans alike.

A bizarre statue found in an old, unearthed chapel has vanished. What are the true aims of the shadowy organization desperate to find this nameless relic? Most importantly, what dark secret writhes at the heart of a small, picturesque town perched on the New England coast?
THE STAR ON THE SHORE is an excellent introduction to the dark machinations of the Cthulhu Mythos in those placid parts of the world least able to cope with the cosmic horror of the Old Ones! The Kickstarter funded within 24 hours, and has ten days to run. Back it while you can!
What is Ab Chaos?
(...from Ab Chaos #7, May 31 1992)

Ab - Latin "from"
Chaos - (1) Any condition or place of total disorder (modern vernacular); (2) the disordered state of unformed matter which preceded creation (since Milton, Paradise Lost); (3) the dark, empty space which preceded creation (Greek Mythology); (4) the [formerly] Californian roleplaying game company.

Ab Chaos is an informal newsletter for Chaosium fans. Through our history we have tried to serve the players and gamemasters through craft and art as well as (and sometimes at the expense of) marketing and moneymaking. We appreciate your loyalty, and offer this communication to those who are curious about us, beyond the mere "product".

It is planned to be informal and irregular. We are, after all, not the Orderium.
