Mighty Boards - Newsletter

Two new projects from the Mighty Boards team...

[

Dear Mighty Boardsters,

We have two juicy announcements for you in this edition of the Mighty Boards newsletter, and a few notes about Essen Spiel 2017. In the last weeks, the Mighty Boards teams have been busy working on our presence at Essen Spiel, getting Vengeance shipped and fulfilled and getting Petrichor manufactured. But we’ve also been hugely busy getting prototypes for our next two games for next year: Posthuman 2 and Nights of Fire.
Essen Spiel 2017

We will be at Essen Spiel in Hall 2-F146. Please come over to say hi and check out our current and upcoming games. We will be launching our current titles: Vengeance and Petrichor. We will also be unveiling prototypes of Posthuman 2 and Nights of Fire. If you’re a backer of our games please drop by and let us know and let us thank you in person. It’s always good to put a face to the lovely people that support us.
The first grand announcement we have is…

Posthuman 2

Posthuman 2 is a stand-alone sequel that takes place a year after the first game. The characters have now found their place in the society living within the Fortress. The characters have become grizzled veterans of the post-apocalyptic landscape

Posthuman 2 is a re-design of the first game that is more streamlined, tactical and sporting a deeper immersion into the Posthuman lore. While the structure of the game is similar, the game plays very differently with the inclusion of a new combat system, mutation system and narrative encounters resolved through a story-book dripping with post-apocalyptic goodness. The vast majority of components will be changed to suit the new system and the art is being re-done. Here’s a shot of the Cop in the first game, and his new incarnation as the veteran Scout.

We’ll be putting out more information about the game there. Posthuman 2 will launch on Kickstarter in the first quarter of 2018.
Nights of Fire

Nights of Fire is the stand-alone sequel to Days of Ire. Nights of Fire picks up the events right where Days of Ire left them. After a few days of celebration for the revolutionaries, the Red Army strikes back with full force. This time, there is no hope.

Nights of fire is a 1-3 player game where one player plays as the unstoppable Soviet Army, trampling over the city of Budapest, while one or two other players take the role of powerless revolutionaries, struggling to hold their beloved city for a few days longer.

The story is told through a striking juxtaposition of two mechanically asymmetrical sides, one player plays using a novel card-driven action selection mechanism, and the other using a classic wooden block war game inspired mechanism. The sides come together in a unique Euro-War game hybrid that mirrors the sheer disparity between the two forces that clashed at the historical Battle for Budapest. Nights of Fire is designed by Brian Train (A Distant Plain and Colonial Twilight) and (Days of Ire and Anachrony).

The Kickstarter will launch in the first quarter of 2018.

That’s all from us for now. We’ll be back in a month or so with our post-Essen report!

Stay Mighty!
