Unboxing The Devils Run - Hunters 'The Alpha Team'

"I love it when a plan comes together..."

The Alpha Team are 'Hunters' models for Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. Of course if you've never seen the game before then those terms are meaningless to first here's some background...

The Devils Run
The Devil's Run: Route 666 is a fast-moving and hard-hitting vehicular combat board game set in a post-apocalyptic America; Each player controls a gang of ramshackle vehicles and their characterful drivers as they race across the remains of America to lay claim to aid drops, food and fuel. Each gang will do whatever it takes to get to there first...bash, crash, smash, race, win!

The Hunters
The Hunters is the most popular TV show in history, a global phenomenon! Being a Star, even in post-apocalyptic North American, has its perks: the best wheels, weapons and all the gas you could dream of, but you will pay for it with your life.
The gang is lead by the infamous Head Hunter and has a rolling road of support cast, replaced as quickly as they appear. This is real-life bounty hunting where the only certainties are sky-high viewer numbers and...DEATH!

A Note About Resin Models
Due to the moulding process many resin models come with extraneous bits of resin that needs to be removed ranging from large lumps to smaller bits of flash and this should be removed carefully in order to avoid damaging any detail. Also it's worth noting that many resin models have a slightly greasy feel caused by the substance they use to stop them sticking to the moulds during production and this can cause issues with paint not sticking to the model properly. Carefully washing the parts in soapy water will remove this should your model be unduly affected. Parts that are bent (or that aren't and you want to be) can be corrected by heating up slightly in warm water and then bending into the required configuration.

The Alpha Team - Unassembled
Here's a picture of the unassembled parts.

The Alpha Team - Stat and Upgrade Cards
The Alpha Team come with eighteen cards. Three of these are vehicle stat cards, five are character cards for both the drivers and the driven, eight are weapon or vehicle upgrade cards and there are two mission cards. Some of these upgrades are generic so in theory could be used on any vehicle if you were up for some conversion work, a few however are specific to the Hunters faction.

Note - The vehicles are roughly 20mm scale so are compatible with games that use Matchbox or Hot Wheels models.

The Alphavan - Assembled
The Alphavan comes in one piece though does need some minor clean-up work.
Here's a few close-up pictures as well...

The PaceCar - Assembled
The PaceCar comes with the wheels separate but these are a simple job to glue into place.

The Gamma - Assembled
This one requires the most work. A small resin 'pole' goes on the upper rear to which the rotary blade attaches and this is quite a small contact point. The pilot slots neatly in the pilot seat though some of his body is already attached to the plane so you'll need to line that up. The only tricky point is attaching the thin metal stand to the base as the attachment location needed widening at both ends...not a big job but worth noting.

The Alpha Team - Painted
Here's an official picture from their website of a painted version of the PaceMan's PaceCar.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a can keep that info to yourself...
