After a few Facebook posts about my assembly of these models I was asked about what particular models were, whether the quality was any good and other enquires of that nature, I decided to cover the questions by my usual method of creating an unboxing/review article for them. This part will cover the rulebook and new teams and the rest of the additions will be covered in part two.
There's been a bit of a rearrange of which teams go with which season over the Kickstarter process and in the most recent update I could find the breakdown currently is this...
Season 4: Brokkrs, Sphyr, Rebs and Hobgoblins
Season 5: Asterians, Convicts, Mechanites and Plague Mutants
Season 6: Koris, Ada-Lorana, Crystallans and Tsudochan
Rulebook.
The season four rulebook follows basically the same format as all the others with information on the various new teams, free agents and any new abilities that they might possess. There's also rules for the Martians from the 'Mars Attacks' which were available as an add-on for the Mars Attacks Miniatures Game Kickstarter. Here's some sample pictures...
The Models.
Season four so far consists of four new teams, a number of free agents and a few misc. other models. If your receiving season four in one go as part of the Dreadball Xtreme Kickstarter then you may have two of each team depending on your pledge level. We'll look at those four teams then in both their unassembled and assembled forms.
The fifth team is a Mars Attacks Dreadball team which is in the same material as the rest of the Mars Attacks stuff so there's a significant difference in the material used so we'll look at it separately right at the end..
Most of the models are single piece with the odd model here and there having a choice of heads, arms, etc. These all slot in simply enough and there were no assembly issues that I encountered. The material Mantic Games use for such models has had some criticism in the past as it's not the most simple to work on though in my personal experience I'm yet to find any problems that a sharp scalpel and a couple of files couldn't sort out...

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
I would be interested to see if they are the same horrible restic as mantic's other stuff. I dont mind it but would be pleased to see them use a much better material (GW's/Wyrd's plastic is a joy to work with). I am tempted to pick up the hobgoblin team as I like the look of the minis.
ReplyDeletePs is that my mars attacks team I see there? :D. The rules for them are a bit pants tbh. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on them if you get to use them in game

They may well be yours. I gather pictures from all over the place and I don't always keep track of where. I'll credit you in the article momentarily...
