Hi Welcome to Newsletter #181 |
Thank you for opening up our latest newsletter. It's great that you're sticking with us, for news about what's out and about in the world of Wargaming.
This is going to be a great newsletter. I suspect it's because there is a lot of splendid stuff that was saved to be released at Salute last week, and we've got it now.
What's top of the list? They all are, but maybe Saga: Age of Magic is pipping everything to the post. This is the massively anticipated Fantasysupplement for the incredibly popular game Saga. It is of course a supplement, you need a copy of the basic Saga II book to play. There is also 3 sets of dice and a spell deck. You don't 'need' to have these to play, but come on, why not! We are taking orders now for shipping 23rd of April, so please order quickly for priority service.
We are shipping the new Oathmark Dwarf Heavy Infantry now. They went really well at Salute, thank you to everyone who joined us there. Can you use them in Saga: Age of Magic? You bet!Two boxes and you have what you need and a bit more.
The other new game release at Salute was Seven Days to the River Rhine. This release fromGreat Escape Games is designed for 15mm Cold War Gone Hot games. The Team Yankeeminiatures you've got are perfect for playing this game.
There's lots more stuff to show you, but I'll let you find them yourself below. The one range I want to point out are the Celts. This is a range from the 1990's we're doing a limited release on. You can buy the collection (one of each now). After Easter they will be on sale singularly until the stocks have gone. We will then 'mothball' the moulds then for a year or so.
Lastly, we've got something free for you. Chris Peers, along with Kev Dallimore and Mark Copplestone, have put together ten new army lists for Death in the Dark Continent, and you can download them for free from our magazine pages. Even if you don't play the game, have a read. How can you not want to know who theZappo Zaps and the Shire Kololo are?
Thanks for reading

Great Escape Games - Cold War Gone Hot |
Seven Days to the River Rhine Seven Days to the River Rhine is a set of fastplay rules simulating armoured combat during the 1980's in Europe when the Cold War between the NATO alliance and Soviet led Warsaw Pact could easily have turned Hot.It is a game in which simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. The rules are deliberately uncomplicated to allow players to concentrate on the scale of the battle, but the action/reaction system ensures that all players are constantly involved at all times making tactical decisions affecting their own commands. |

Death in the Dark Continent is a full colour, hard back book that takes the reader deep into late 19th Century Africa. At it's heart is a wargame, a game that allows the player to field armies of miniature figurines representing African Tribes, European Invaders and Native Kingdoms. With an emphasis on the people of Africa as well as the Colonial Invaders, Death in the Dark Continent is a unique publication offering 80 different army lists covering all the vastly different forces in Sub-Saharan Africa 1870 to 1899. |
New army lists for Death in the Dark Continent |
The new army lists for Death in the Dark Continent are worth reading even if you don't play. They cover such peculiarities as The Zappo Zaps, Tarzan and the Orange River Raiders, & The Shire Kololo that have nothing to do with Hobbits... |

Men of Bronze Men of Bronze is a wargame that allows you to play out Classical Greek hoplite battles on the tabletop. Players are Strategoi (generals) leading phalanxes of bronze-clad warriors in pursuit of fame, glory, and the honour of their city-states. To win such prizes, however, you must prove your mettle, display your valour, and bring the other Strategoi to their knees! |

Oil War Team Yankee War in the Middle East With Europe ablaze the shadow of war quickly crept across the globe. In the Middle East, Iran and Iraq had been locked in a conflict across their border since 1980, and looked unlikely to stop anytime soon. Further west, Israel and Syria had come to blows in Lebanon as Israel fought PLO forces operating from inside their northern neighbour. The oil rich region, already rife with conflict and tension, was about to be drawn into World War III as the Soviet Union and US led NATO set about protecting their interests in the black gold that kept the wheels of industry turning. |
