Used widely by the Sternguard of the Adeptus Astartes, just as they were by the Seeker squads of their Legion forebears, combi-weapons are occasionally gifted to Space Marines who have proven themselves in countless battles. Created by skilled artificers, a combi-weapon matches a bolter, the archetypal firearm of the Space Marine, to a more specialised weapon. This gives the recipient increased tactical flexibility, allowing access to the area denial effectiveness of the flamer, the armour penetrating properties of the plasma gun or the tank busting power of the meltagun.
The Legion Combi-weapon Set comprises five combi-flamers, five combi-plasma guns and five combi-meltaguns, based on the Tigris pattern bolter. Designed by Will Hayes, this set is available to pre-order now and will be despatched from Friday 23rd May.
Of all of the Legiones Astartes, very little is known for certain regarding the Alpha Legion. The annals of the Great Crusade make mention of the Legion, but invariably each entry contradicts some other. All that is known is that the warriors of the Alpha Legion are the unsurpassed masters of misdirection and guile. Most foes have no awareness of the danger they are in before the Alpha Legion’s masterful stratagems cause their defences to collapse beneath them, torn apart from within so that when the final overwhelming attack finally comes, the enemy’s defeat is total.
These two sets of shoulder pads enable you to customise Mk II Crusade Armour and Mk IV Maximus Armour. The Alpha Legion Mk II Shoulder Padsand Alpha Legion Mk IV Shoulder Pads, designed by Steve Whitehead, are available to pre-order now and will be despatched from Friday 23rd May.

How the heck is it that FW keeps knocking it outta the park and GW keeps flailing about wildly?
ReplyDeleteSheesh- gawd forbid GW were to ever release a combi-weapon pack, or let anyone buy 4 Melta Guns or something similar.
But really, how the heck is it?
Aren't they sorta the same company, under the same umbrella, sharing resources and whatnot?
How can GW be so bloody awful, and yet FW manages to give folks what they want (Legions, pretty much) and does a bang-up job of it?
The disparity is just ridiculous.
I agree. Just compare the aesthetic and fluff values of the Blood Slaughterer/Brass Scorpion and their Forgeworld kin with the Dinobots.
DeleteAs opposed to Forgewowrld, GW seems to have a perverse delight in refusing to give its customers what it actually wants. Plastic Ogryns are pretty niche and the finecast Kasrkin didn't really need to be plasticised as Tempestus Whatsits, wouldn't that design money have been better spent on Plastic Sisters of Battle? Whats with the Vortex Beast and the Kharybdyss? No-one asked for those yet we've been waiting years for Greater Daemons!
If you talk to the guys from Forge World you can tell that they're hobbyists at heart and still have genuine passion for what they do whereas Games Workshops decisions are made in many cases by finance people with no knowledge about the hobby at all...in my opinion at least.
